I have the Foul Out three,it works pretty well.A real eye opener to see the copper collect on the rod. I have learned that spilled cop out solution should not remain in contact with steel as it will pit it.I had tied a sock around the barrel a few inches from muzzle to soak up spilled fluid, good idea but remove it right away and oil steel.I left it in place until barrel was finished cleaning and when I removed the sock I had some small pitted areas.

Very good advice, I didn't know that the Cop Out solution could pit the barrel. I guess that I've been real lucky. I fould that in between changes of the Cop Out, a good cleaning with Butches will remove any powder fowling that may be covering up additional copper buildup. It helps alot for a barrel that may have layers of powder and copper. A friend asked me to do his rifle which had a heavy buildup of copper and it was amazing how well the Fowl Out removed it. I do my rifles and handguns twice a year for copper in the rifles and lead in the handguns. When I bought it, I wan't sure if it was worth the money, but if it ever dies I will buy the new model in a heartbeat.

G'Day sniper, how are you mate? Tell me more about this "natural" bore cleaner? ...but as for manure, hm, be a bit hard squeezing it down the bore. Cheers, Vince |
Hey, Vince! I'm doing unbelievably well. And you?
It'd have to be a BIIIIG bore! Actually, I think they take the lumps out. What the literature said was that somebody noticed that nails in horse barn floors didn't rust--they were nice and "clean".
Somebody isolated the ingredient (s) that preserved the metal, and voila! Ze NEW gun cleaner and rust remover was discovered. I wonder if it will open drains, too?
Nevertheless, I get this image of being followed by horseflies at the range. No, thank you.
Be well |
Glad to hear you are doing well mate.
I actually thought your post was a little "tongue in cheek"...taking the mickey out as they say.
But now that you mention it, you are correct. I don't think I have ever seen a really rusty horse shoe nail.....and the shoes are the same until they are free of the horse. Might have to do a search for more info, if for no other reason other than curiosity.
Cheers, Vince
