I had "the flu" the last week in FEB. Bad cough, mild fever, etc. so I missed four days. They didn't test me for anything. I had a flu shot this year. Could it have been...?? A bunch of folks at work were sick before and after I was.

Good move Geland.
Currently Australia has only had transmission from someone who has travelled over seas or has been in close contact with someone who has been overseas.
Id say that puts you in the avoid group due to your wife, your mates are over 70 so good call.

Mike
They wouldnt test you unless you had exposure to someone who had travelled overseas, or someone in close contact with someone who had and if you had the stuffed head, runny nose, covid 19 rarely presents with those symptoms.
The flu shot wont necessarily prevent you getting the flu, but you should get reduced symptoms IF you contract it AND it was one of the strains included in the shot.

Cheers

We have 29 cases in our state, and people are coming unhinged. There is a run on misc items like Toilet Paper, hygiene items, cleaning items, dry and canned foods, cereal, pet foods... livestock foods... guns and ammo.

Its pretty wild. I'm guessing the run on gas will start soon. People are loosing their collective minds.

Oh yea, and today the banks started putting a restriction on how much Cash you can with draw. The banks are running out of money.

Crazy times.

@Dallan

I was told that the LDS church in UTAH are helping the people that need basic items, is this true?

My wife told me that the beer, wine and whisky are going untouched.

I'm good...

Plenty of beer and coffee on the shelves. Gun and ammo sales are stupid crazy. The majority are looking for home defense guns. Not concealed carry stuff that is the norm these days. The crowds are usually pretty civil. We are starting to see more open carry people out and about, but not the normal "I do it because its my Constitutional Right" types. A lot are the computer programmer looking geek types (nothing personal, Dallan). Who would have thought our civilization would come unhinged over BUTT WIPE.

On another note, I'm coming to the opinion that there are a lot of cases that are not being tested or reported. I believe that there are still some people (including doctors) that have come common sense and are not adding to the hysteria by reporting the possible cases.

Restocked the reloading bench the other day. I'm good. Plenty of firearms. I'm good. Plenty of food and TP. I'm good. Plenty of loaded ammunition in various calibers. I'm good there too.

Advice here is if showing symptoms, STAY AWAY FROM HOSPITAL or doctors' surgeries/medical facilities. If you get really ill, there's a number to call for help.

Panic buying is now setting in here, including fuel (worrying, as I'm about out in the truck again) & even perishable goods that these muppets will no doubt throw in the trash next week, before buying more.
Government is predicting the worst effect of the virus will be from in a couple of weeks, for up to 3 months.

The lesson I'm getting from this (other than the one that the media is totally irresponsible) is that I'm not as well prepared for a real emergency as I should be. My biggest weak spot is water. I've got some emergency food, ammo, etc but if I lost power I'd have no practical way to get water. Luckily I have a fairly shallow well that will be easy to access with a manual pump. I just gotta find a decent manual pump.

Mike I have a live year around spring behind my house that empties into a cistern. I'm good...It used to be used by the neighbors for their water until they finally drilled a well.

Living in the smoke stacks I have no access to wells or drinkable natural water.
Like you Pumkin Mike, my weakest is water. My home is quite high on a small hill and even during the regular time the water pressure is quite weak, I shiver to think if there is a real emergency and we lost water service.

OTOH having solar panels that give 6 KW output on a good day, my power is about covered. The system uses heartbeats frequency cycle from the mains, but I found a way to circumvent that problem by using a small inverter to make the power inverter work.

I had to withdraw $8300+ today. not even a hick-up. I have to replace the HVAC in my home. I saved $200 by going with cash. Half down and half when the job is done and the inspector clears it.

the small transport firm I work for uses a 1000ltr tank of addblue exhaust emmision liquid a month...the nice new plastic IPC containers are more trouble than its worth to recycle so its an easy matter to snavel one for water......the addblue is basically urea and water.....so its whats in my cloths most days when I get home...I triple rinse them then call it good....awesome for carting stock water....it would be simple matter to hook one up to downpipe of house.....it would fill pretty quick in first rain (we filled one overnight on west coast off small roof) tap on bottom means easy to get it back out...and rinse/refill when it next rains.

For the military guys, you KNOW what to do and what not to do.
For the rest, wash your hands often as necessary, wash your nasty butt also. keep a distance.
If, it does not come from government health authorities CDC Cdn Health, AUS/NZ dept of health, British health services then it is propaganda!

Be kind to each other, help each other, do not give into or condone bad behavior from people panicking. Turn the friggin tv or radio off and go play a boardgame, clean that closet you have been meaning to clean. Pray. A positive attitude does not always work, but, a negative one NEVER fails. I and my family are okay. I shall not pass on any information that does not come from a100% VERIFIED source. I suggest you do also. Good luck to everyone. If you need to speak to someone my email is rmueller @ sasktel.net and we can get some phone numbers going.. I respect and cherise my friendship with all of you on the nut. TEMR
