Anybody know of anything one can do to lighten the trigger pull on one of these buggers? I just bought the 17 HMR in the model 597 and the trigger pull on this rifle is about 12 pounds. It goes completely off the scale on my old RCBS Gauge. I know these gun manufacturers are very lawsuit conscious, but this is a damn shame. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I already talked to my gunsmith and he won't touch it. Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

I believe Volquartzen makes a trigger sear kit that will improve the trigger greatly.
A good place to look would be Brownells.com

Thanks again Very Happy

Its simple if you take your time and leave the original geometyry of the trigger and sear alone, Just polish or stone the surfaces carefuly.
The Reminton 597 rimfires are not my favorite guns to work on, but I have done a few.

Thats pretty much what I am doing. I used some emory paper and a scotch brite pad to try and clean up and de-burr any of the surfaces. I know better than to mess with the angles or the cut on the hammer and sear. Hard lesson learned on my 1100 Rem. had a full auto when I was done. Thank cost me a new hammer and sear. But all education cost money.

Thanks
