I dont know if it means much to all you yanks out there I travelled about 1000 km one way to hunt here in OZ and I am still in the same state.
I hunts twice so far this year, once end of January, and once on Easter.
I planned to go out again another two or three trips before the end of the year. It will be about Sptember, for a deer hunt up GLenn Innes (Vince - you are a round the corner from GLenn Innes arnt you? Try Wild Harvest for guided deer hunt) And definitely anoither trip around Christmas for grunter and goats.
Damn.. life is good

Got some good leads on Wisconsin Feral Hogs right after spring turkey. Groud hogs and coyotes most of the summer, some southern Minnesota pheasant and doves. Deer in the fall and maybe try to squeeze in a Black Bear if the draw favors me.

I'll start middle of sept. with archery for deer and hogs in SW Central Fl. then bout the last wk. of Oct. will head up to Illinois for 2 or 3 wks. of more archery for deer. May stop back for a day or two of deer hunting in Ga. If not come on back to Central Fl. and deer and hog hunt with flintlocks and modern rifles through Feb. March will begin traveling to a few states for spring gobbler hunting with smoothbore flintlock.

Fort Rock Unit Oregon for mulies in October..have Mt Lion and Bear tags but probably won't hunt them. I'll hunt elk but am undecided between either sex archery tag close to home Sept thru mid Dec. or rifle bull tag in late Oct in the high Cascades.

My regular hunting buddy died last year so it will be slow again this year for local hunts.
I have been promising a traveling buddy I would come over to his place in MS for early deer and bear. I think I will do it this year. I plan on a couple of bird hunts this fall for quaily birds across the border into AL. We have also been talking about a quaily bird shoot down in Mexico come October.
After the Africa trip, I kinda got to let the dust settle around the house a bit. Besides, son called and he is getting hitched before October 15, so I need to travel to AZ for that event. Might carry my 20ga and go out to the Tucson Clays Range, cant eat them, but fun to shoot.

I'm staying home to hunt this year. All the big game hunts run from September 10th right into November so I have lots of time. The price of fuel this year is also a factor. My buddy and I got a limited entry Bull Moose draw this year from October 1st to 15th in a management region that only allows limited entry hunts for moose so we should get one. We'll set up camp about an hours drive from home and stay there from the October 3rd or 4th right through till the 16th.
I really don't see any reason to go too far away from home anyway. Within a 30 minute drive time from my front door I can hunt for Mule Deer, Whitetails, Moose, Elk, Black Bear and if I decide to go a little further I can try for Big Horns and Caribou. Part of the reason I moved to this part of BC in the first place.......

So far doves, whitetail deer, black bear, ruff & blue grouse, and elk. - - Only bagged some birds at this point. All the bigger critters were hunted with a bow. Thankfully theres lots more time in the season - - should be able to at least put some venison in the freezer. - - -
