We have some of the greatest pheasant hunting in the country. Season runs 2 1/2 months and this last year was a great year. Phesants were everywhere (would have been better if I could have hit something). The rabbit population is finally coming back, looking forward to hunting them again.

I grew up in MN, and my family are avid squirrel hunters..rabbits, too. Lived in AZ since 1980, and have met a handfull of guys that hunt squiirel and rabbits.

Seems like many people have set their sights on big game only.

One thing I like about small game is that there is really no pressure "to get one" and there are so many critters that even if one gets away, you know you are going to run into lots more during the day.

Also, weather in northern AZ in Oct. is really nice.

In AZ we can hunt rabbits all year-10 per day! Cottontails are a game animal while jacks are not a game animal-no one knows why.
Squirrel season begins in October, and that is the most fun hunting! Great weather (usually), and no pressure to "get one", because when you do, you can get some more.
funny thing, the past two years we have taken more cottontails during squirrel hunts than squirrels. The rabbits are everywhere-even in places you don't expect to find them.
