Howdy. What do you use Question . I use to use rcbs lube and the pad but tried Hornadys one shot and have to say i like it much better. Not near as messy and quick too, you do get a little over spray, and it costs more but besides that i like it what do you use Question .

Hi Joe,

I started out using Hornady lube, because it came with a kit, but then I tried the RCBS spray. I also just bought some Lee lube but haven't tried it yet. I think my favorite will be the spray, because there is less chance of over lubing.

Hello, I use the RCBS on the pad, BUT, I like LEE's for the inside neck.

I think LEE is easier to use and is not so messy.

Just my 2 cents.

I just went downstairs and checked. I knew I had RCBS and Redding and use both, but I've got an old tube of Bair. I don't know if they're still even in business. I also use a lot of mica, especially when neck sizing. Best wishes.

Since 1970, I have used RCBS lube on a pad and a #2 pencil to go around the inside of the case necks. All the best...

Hi Cal,

I tried the mica and didn't have much success with it. Is there a secret to using it? I just dipped the dry neck into a well of mica and gently tapped off the excess. After about 6 or 8 case sizings, I had to lube the neck case with grease type to get some on the extractor pin. Am I doing something wrong? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hello Blaine,

No, I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I only neck size and even then I have the occasional problem with getting the case past the expander ball. I guess it's caused by the various thicknesses of the brass. When I have problems I just switch to RCBS case lube, put it on a Q-Tip and run it around the inside of the neck lightly. After sizing I wipe it back out. Best wishes.

Hi Cal,

Thanks for the input. Now I understand. I also neck size only for my 270 and 300 Winnie, but my 223, 243, and 308 are in my T/C Encore and headspace is extremely critical to prevent misfires, so I have to full length size. After I size these cases, I also trim each one to the same length and then run them through a neck sizing die to "finalize" the neck diameter. The only time I have a problem with the extractor pin sticking is while I am full length sizing. The extractor/expander pin can actually stretch the neck back out after it has been sized to the right dimension, so I have to be sure it is lubed. I never realized how finicky Encores could be until I started getting misfires with factory ammo. Anyway, thanks again for the input...Have a great week

I realize that this is an old post, but I cant stop from adding my 2 cents. After using Rcbs case lube 2 applied with my fingers, I swiched to Imperial Die wax. I just run 3 fingers of each hand over the wax, rub it on my palms, then pick up a hand full of brass and rub my hands together, drop the brass into a bucket and grab another hand full.

I recently reformed 100 223 to 7 tcu and just ran the neck over my waxed palm once every 3 or 4 cases to lube the inside of the neck and went to town. took less than 1/2 the time as using rcbs

I also use the Hornaday One Shot. Didn't really like the mica all that much either for neck sizing, so use RCBS lube for that. Always wanting to try something new, I read an article where they used Pinesol furniture polish in aerosol can for sizing. Claimed to be cheaper than One Shot, had added benefit of cleaning the cases, and not being sticky. If I ever find this stuff I'll give it a try. One never knows, something like that might work.--tr

Make sure there is NO ammonia in what ever case lube you might invent...A lot of household cleaners have ammonia in them...

You are absolutely correct about the ammonia. I don't believe its an ingrediant in furniture polish. At least not in the stuff my wife makes me use. The article about the polish originated in The Savage Shooter's Forum.--tr

Yup...I'd like to try that Imperial, but I don't want to start collecting lubes as I do powder. Sooo. Until I run out of RCBS pad lube......Which, by the way, works quite well...

I couldn't find any of the Pine-Sol furniture polish anyways, so it all might just be a Myth anyways. Can one really trust people on other Forums? A bottle of RCBS case lube does go along ways.-tr

I use the RCBS spray and love it. A friend used the Hornady One Shot and got a wax build up in his die the the point that a lubed case actually got stuck in it. Iknow he was probably using too much (His motto is if one is good two must be better...) and he should clean his dies more often, but has anyone else had trouble with One Shot?
