Know where the bullet's going to go when you squeeze, know where your muzzle is pointing always. Bear tracks? If you're seeing his tracks you're ok compared to say, picking berries and the willow next to you starts shaking. If you have an exam like that to pass 'tink, let common sense rule the day and you'll do just fine.

well from what I understand it ain't all that hard I just need to find time with grad school and student teaching at the moment. I'll let ya'll know how it goes once I get it done.

carefull fireball, knowin bushmaster he will show up with a steam shovel for the hit! i had the girl child in the woods with me from age of 5-6 and at the range about the same time, her brother came to the range when he could walk. they got thier hunting permits at age 12, and now at 17 the girl is non too thrilled to go, and the boy is just getting into it, but both will go fishing anytime anywhere... Very Happy

I was looking thru the book/magizine the guy gave me for the course and I already know half of it, exspecially the survival skills, learned all that outdoor stuff when I was in Camp Fire, heck, I can teach outdoor skills thru Camp Fire since I was like 15. still can light a fire with one match and keep the thing going all night. Smile

Next survival skill you must learn is to start a fire using just wood thats avalible around the camping site. Let me me tell you its a b***h compared to just using a match. Laughing

we were always given the magnesuim,flint and steel to do ours.. aint too good with matches.. always carry a zippo with me now.. along with the flint/steel.. it is hard to do but the rewards are great when you really need them!!

Magnesuim Air Force type bars are great compared to the wood bow or similar "stone age" methods, I don't smoke ciggerates or otherwise, never have, never will, but in my pocket I always carry a fully filled zippo lighter. Smile

Sometimes women ask for a light and they arn't hookers ether Wink

Still I don't date smokers so if she asks I'm doing it to be a proper man around her nothing else. Laughing

yeh, my wife said that while carrying our daughter before birth she swears she was hunting that hog from all the movement. but she has been in a garage since she was 2 days old.she went deer hunting with my wife and I before she was born. does that count? Laughing

You guys can keep your flint and steel, bow, string and stick...I'm a modern man...I take fire starters and matches when ever I head for the timber...It doesn't make sense not to. Why would you find yourself in the woods without some means of easily starting a fire...As they say on "Surviver"..."Fire is life".

Bushmaster,

Its always good to have a backup source, and its pretty hard to mess up a magnisium fire starter. A lighter can stop working or lose all the feul, matches can have a whole many things effect them, so its good to be able to have backup means to start a fire. Smile

growing up camping I liked matches and had the flint for backup. on one trip with my group one of the girls brought a lighter and forgot to put it in the sleeping bag with her that night and the thing frozen like her can of propain did because it got to cold. back up is good.

i would say yes it counts!!! and good to see someone carrying the tradions on to the next generation!!
