Thats good, personally I'm a pessimist so I got more then a few ways on me to start the most important thing in the bush (Zippo lighter, Zippo fuel, matches, magnism fire starter, vasiline soaked cotton balls, string to make a wood bow).

Vaseline is flameable and makes it convinate to start a fire when you don't got dry material to start the fire with.

I normally just rub the vaseline on the cotton balls put it in a ziplock bag, add extra vaseline in the ziplock bag and close it then put it in my fire starting kit. No melting or anything fancy.

And they call ME old...They have this neat little things on the market that are used to start fire places called, of all things, "firestarters". They are 1 1/4" X 1 1/4" X 1/4" squares that all you do is hit them with a match and waa-laa! Fire. And it only takes one. No paper. No kindling. Just these little squares. They burn for quite a while and hot. I've used them to start wet wood before.
A thought...Before you go into the woods with vasoline soaked cotton balls. Make sure you try them out first. They tend to be a little tricky and don't burn all that hot. For you diehard folks out there you can use WD-40 and cotton balls too. I've known about vasoline and cotton balls sense I was a kid. I find both vasoline and WD-40 to be a bit messy though. For you even more diehard outdoorsmen/women you can start fires with the materials in the forest and a match too. Even in the rain forests of the Northwest...Ask PaulS. He should know...
