I agree in part with each and every post. I believe that there are many factors in play here....both natural and man made.

One of the biggest problems I believe we are suffering is the destruction of the "lungs of the planet".....the Amazon rain forest, not to forget the rain forests of SE Asia.

The deciduous and coniferous rainforests of northwestern Canada are becoming threatened as well and I don't want to step on how anyone earns a living but I flew over northern BC almost twenty years ago and from the plane I could see huge areas in the middle of this gorgeous forest that were basically desert, blowing sand, because of clearcutting.

Interesting that we're talking about this, I posted pictures of the place I was going camping last weekend and I believe I mentioned it looked like where I grew up. Where I grew up doesn't look like that anymore, at least for about a ten mile radius around the town, because of a copper smelter. The smoke used to settle right over the town when I was a kid, just this thick grey/yellow sulfurous smog. Women used to have to bring in clean clothes that they'd hung outside to dry and re-wash them, you can guess how wonderful it tasted. Probably has one of the highest rates of death by lung cancer of any community of it's size, ( my dad and three brothers all lived to be 48, 50, 43, and 52 all dead from cancer, I'm 49 ...keep hearing this loudly ticking clock, lol)but there were no environmental regulations when they built it, or in the '60's when I grew up there. There's a lot that can be put down to the natural evolution of the earth or the solar system for that matter, but when it comes to just out and out trashing the planet..hell we're number 1! we're number 1!
