I saw this question posted on a different site. and didn't bother to go through all the ?'s here, so I thought It would be easier to just ask. Does anyone here store primed brass, or do you prime-em-as-you-need-em?

I have (125) .243 and (75) .22-250 primed and ready to load. I've read that you should load a case soon after priming it. Does it make much difference?

I like to process everytihng at once, should I review this policy?

I have some that have been primed several months ago, but I usually prime as I need them. As far as storing preprimed cases there really isn't any problem. Remember that you have (or at least I have) several thousand primers stored on or near your loading bench. Just store the primed brass as you store your primers and you will have no problem...That is in a cool and dry place...I know several reloaders that have hundreds of preprimed brass on or near their loading benches...

I'm the same as Bushy....prime as needed, although I do on occasion have pre-primed brass sitting ready to load...... more often than not 12g rounds.

I don't see that it is a problem, so long as, as Bushy says, store the pre-primed cases as you would your primers.

Cheers, Vince

Primers have no shelf life, they are good to go for a long long time. Keep em cool and dry and they last. If you reload clean brass with primers and keep the brass as you would a primer you are also good to go. Any problem would be a veriation from above, like loading good primers in oily or dirty brass, you could contaminate the primers, but that is exactly what you might do with a load and shoot situation, right?

I do both (load and shoot & Load and save) and I have several thousand rounds of primed, swaged, military brass in 223 that I pop out and load from time to time, no problem. I loaded the brass during the winter in 1984, when I was shooting a 223 gun alot. Sold the gun in the spring and there was all of this brass, ha. I can not recall a single misfire so far.

I prime my brass as I need them, however, last year, I came across a bunch of CCI Small Pistol Primers, that I must have had sense 1970.
I used them up for my EAA Wintess 9mm, and didn't have a problem at all with them.
Prime up your brass, and make sure that you put them on top of your wood stove this winter to keep them dry. Very Happy Very Happy

It depends.I primer cases as I need them most of the time. If I did prime a bunch of brass, it would be stored in G.I. ammo cans until needed. All the best...

Bushy,
Funny you should ask. We had a "lock up your wives" alert last night. My personal hero, Mr Seanator Clinton, was in town last night, where is my barf bag. I do not know if his two legged bow-wow was with him or not. I was busy watching Thunder Road and missed him. Aw shuckens.....

Destin is in the middle of its tourist season and the traffic is awful. If they permit another condo we will not have roads, just long parking lots.

Our "dirt" was voted the #1 beach in the US last year and this year, so we get to put up with the "visitors" The flip side is that we have some real great restaurants......
