We have a muzzleloading deer season opening in mid-October and another traditional (flintlock) season after Christmas. I plan to use a .50 or .54 Lyman Great Plains Rifle, blackpowder and patched round ball in both seasons. How many of you good folks are going out this year? Take care...

PA's late flintlock season is my favorite deer hunting that I have ever tried. I am going to try to return to PA,my home state, after Christmas to hunt a week or two. I have killed 13 deer, including my largest buck, with my TC Renegade .54 flintlock with patched round ball.

Joe,
I will be going out and shooting the same rifles you mentioned. All the best...

Muzzleloading season opens here in Arkansas Oct 13th. Very Happy Wife has been served notice that for the next nine days after that I can be found at the deer camp.

Set up the stand last month near my mineral block and put out fresh sweet feed block and will put up corn feeders next week. Sighted in the Savage ML10 and will measure out plenty of powder loads, bullets and sabots for the occasion. Have settled on a 50/40 sabot with 200gr XTP that will print about 1" groups consistently if I do my part. Very Happy

Tuned up the four wheeler and cleaned the camp trailer, replaced the tarp/awning, and will pick up new batteries for everything in the next few days. Now all I have to do is try to keep my anxiety under check for another 3 1/2 weeks. Laughing
