Vince...At my age I don't need to brag...What is...IS...

There are as many ways to lube rifle cases as there are opinions on the subject...What ever works for you is what you'll use and swear by. I have to use up what I have before I will try another case lube system. In this case it may be a while. In the mean time My RCBS pad and lube will suffice quite well...For me anyway...

RCBS lube and pad. Every time I get involved with a spray lube I get away from it and go back to the RCBS lube and pad. I use carbide dies for all of my straight wall cases and neck size the bottle neck cases. So, I lube the first case going into the carbide die and only lube the neck on the others.

I do have a little item I have used for years, a large pill bottle filled with BBs and doused with powdered molly. You just stick the neck in, give it a twist and the neck is lubed in and out. I have never re-powdered the pill bottle luber and it is at least 20 years old.

Dimitri, I use Hornady One Shot spray lube. I put about 25-30 pieces of brass into a large zip lock freezer bag, spray the brass in the bag, zip it shut and shake it like I am mixing something to be cooked. I then open the bag and let the stuff dry (it drys in about 1 minute or so. Before sizing the brass, I add a little Lee lube to the inside of the neck with a small brush. THis method works fast and well. I have not had any stuck cases or hard to resize cases.
I am not the inventor of this method as I learned about it from someone on this list. I am sorry but I just can't remember who (maybe Handloader?).

On a rifle case I use RCBS water soluable with a lube pad.

If I'm neck sizing only I use Imperial sizing wax.

For pistol I like the Dillion spray. It does not harm the powder or primer ( I use a progressive press for pistol)

I have normally used CH case lube (C-H Tool & Die Corp - Owen, WI) but had trouble using a Hornady felt pad with them. I over lubed them a lot and if I didn't I got a stuck Case Mad . I started using one shot last night and found I have to spray them heavily (another stuck case Mad ) I kind of like it as to the way it isn't as messy as the CH and it seems to lube fairly well. I see there are a few tricks I can barrow out of this posting. My one question is though... How do you get it off? I tried a rag and that seemed to work okay, but I tried throwing them in my tumbler to speed up the process and the corn cob media stuck to it on the inside of the neck. I am still trying to tumble it off. Any one have a quicker way?

P.S. Hooray for Hornady! In my battle with the stuck case, I noticed and/or caused my expander inside of my Hornady die to shatter where the top of it meets the spindle. I called them up this morning told them of my sins against my poor die and claimed my responsibility and they warrantied my Expander/Spindle assembly any way. Woo hoo! I'm happy.

jbird22cal,

As stated above I use RCBS lube and pad. I use a nylon bore brush that I have rolled on the lube pad and make one pass into the case neck. After resizing/decapping I wipe the outside of the case with a paper towel or rag and tumble them for about 30 minutes. The amount of lube still in the neck is of no consequence. It will have little or no effect on the powder. Load them. If a little powder sticks to the inside of the neck the bullet will push it down.

Lubin' case neck interiors with a bristled brush is more a function of removing powder residue than actually lubing them.

Unfired cases will easily pass an expander ball with only a spritz of One Shot, where fired one's will require the brushing....

Nuthin' sticks to dried One Shot.

Can't like all the years I goofed around with lube pads and sticky fingers.......

Well Helllooo Wildswalker...How ya doin'? The reason I have stuck with the lube pad is because I have tried One Shot and started having my first stuck (and I mean STUCK) cases in .30-06. Seemed to work fine for .30-30, but not for .30-06. One Shot makes a good lube for my wife's rocking/reclining chair though. Removes all the squeeks...Never have had a stuck case with RCBS lube and pad...

HAPPY NEW YEAR...

I used to use RCBS lube pad but in the last 8 or so years I have switched to the RCBS Case Slick spray and I've had no problems with stuck cases. RCBS Case Slick actually is a pump spray not aerosol.

Yuck I make a witches brew of lubes for my case pad that seem to work well for me without denting the case shoulders, and to clean them off prior to reloading I use ronson lighter fluid on a rag-it seems to get all of the oil base out of the brass.Found out if I use this combination in my old rock polisher(tumbler) that tying the rag in a wad or ball and putting the lighter fluid and brass together, that the oil will be absorbed by the rag,and not much in the way of mess in the house.Note of caution-use the lighter fluid in a well ventilated, and non flammable area! Shocked

I've used Imperial wax for a long time, it works great and goes a long way. I don't know how many thousands of rounds I have loaded out of one tin, but you can hardly tell there is any gone. The other nignt I was loading a bunch of .223 and decided to use the can of One Shot that I bought a while back. In the first 40 cases I sized I had 3 stick. I'm not going to use One Shot anymore. That's just me though, it seems to work for other people.

I've been using the same bottle of Pacific Case Lube for the past 25 years and still have about half of it left. It is about the same colour and consistency as glycerine and does a great job.

I put some onto an old stamp pad that I put some high density foam into and it works a treat. I roll the cases on it and about every fifth one I twist a case mouth down in the corner to lube the neck sizing ball.

Cleaning the cases is easy too...I have about 20 litres of Brakleen and I put a couple of ounces into a plastic bottle...drop each case into it as I resize it...recap the bottle when I have about 50 in it, then shake the bejesus out of it for 20 seconds...strain the fluid out and put the cases on an old hand towel to dry off (about 10 seconds). Works for me.

I've never had a case stick in the resizing die in all the years I have been using this lube.

Cheers, Vince

Bush....

Can't ever recall a stuck case after it having been lubed properly, with either RCBS Sticky Goo, or One Shot, as I'm tuff to part with my componentry until it's lifespan is exceeded and would've remembered such as an event......

Never could, either, coddle the hard way to do stuff....and can't think adding the finger fumble time to rig a pad/brush, roll, wipe, tumble, seperate media, wipe again, pick out primer pockets and flashholes as being, somehow, the "easiest".

Surely lubin' Momma's chair is a tuffer task than soakin' down a loading block, but I'm positive some could make even that too hard........
