Lots of photos, got a new digital camara as the old one died and with the memory card I put in it can take about 1200 pictures, when I get back and I'm not on this 56K Internet anymore I'll upload a few to Hunting Nut.

No new restriction Gelandangan.
They should have locked you up, given you a hefty fine and
confiscated all your wordly possessions.
And IGNORANCE is NO EXCUSE.
A curse on you and your family for even thinking of bringing something like that into the country.
Steve Irwin would spin in his grave.
And if you have done this before and not got caught then I hope they keep an eye on you everytime you and any member of your whole family re enter.
Besides the illegal contraband, Did you have a good trip? |
Dude, I loved this country as much or more than you do, after all I am here by choice, not because my ancestor were placed here.
I will not consciously bring any illegal item into the country.
Steve may Rest In Peace. - Crikey!!!
It is true what I said before, it was ok to bring in PROCESSED food and I did ensure that it was pasteurized and vacuum sealed stuff. AND, I ALWAYS DECLARE them, so it is not like I was smuggling them in.
I reckon it is because of the TV crew in the vicinity that made them (the customs officers) to want to look tough.
And tikka, I will take what you say about cursing my family as a joke whether or not you meant it that way.
So besides the episode in the airport, I did have a good trip. How about you? did they let you out yet?

Guys, guys, have a look at the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service website. I spent a couple of months doing contract work with them and I was astounded at the regulations. It is easy to make a mistake, but also equally easy to avoid a mistake.
Australian Quarantine Inspection Service
This link will take you to the ICON site that allows you to Query individual items. Have a look and you will be surprised at what you can and can't do.
Australian Import Conditions Search Facility
It is easy to sit back and berate or label an individual about bringing in things that are maybe illegal, but unless you know EXACTLY what you are talking about it is wise to hold off and keep the peace !! Anyway, we are all mates here, with a common interest in hunting and firearms....not Quarantine problems. And lets not forget...most of the game that we hunt is NOT native to Australia but was introduced in years gone by for this very purpose.
Show me the man who has never made a mistake....from memory there has only been one and he gave his life for the rest of humanity 2007 years ago !!
Having said that, the Quarantine rules are there for a very good reason, and that is to protect Australia's native environment, plants, animals and also industries. So, it is good to comply with these laws.
Cheers, Vince

To answer Gelandangan first,
No I will never be let out as I live in the land of the permanently bewildered.
Joke intended, awareness to be switched on in regards to quarantine laws, and yes Vince, if Gelandangan had legally bought some into the country before and had the list of available imports he could probably stood his ground and we may all have watched him on the next episode of Border Security.
And with a TV crew present and the local viral outbreak of Equine Flu they are probably a bit more vigalant.
Dimitri - remember your diet.

Tikkat3,
My diet is more or less over with I'm a size 34" waist now and I'm trying to not drop too much more but stay at the waist size I am now. Buying a couple new pairs of pants every couple of months cause they are too big and they are not worn out yet sucks.

D,
Drink Greek beer not Greek wine, especially the St Helena variety of pine sap inspired beverage, an acquired taste no doubt....
By all means say hello to your GFather aunts and uncles, etc. Opah! to you and them.....
