Vince- long time no talk
That beavers are back in full force, I think they have brought friends. In the last 2 months they have chopped down over 40 trees, the area around my lower lake looks like a logging camp.
I have tried a new approach, no more shotgun (new neighbors about 300 yards away that I don't want to wake up at 2 in the morning). I am now using a 22 with a spotlight mounted on the scope. Spotlight is supposed to be good for 100 yards, but is more like 50 yards.
I have yet to get one, but have not spent much time chasing them. It is in the 20's at night and I am a candy a**.

Guns are like golf clubs, sometimes you need to switch depending on the current situation. Deer season is over here so the "deer guns" get put up for a while, unless I'm testing loads. The "varmint guns" come out now. And there are always the "defense guns" to play with.

Friend, those laws of yours suck and no offense meant, but all y'all dropped the ball on that deal.....tho' it's doubtful I need to tell YOU anything about it.
There'd be an army full of pissed off yankees 'round here if things took that turn, all hell would break loose, and only the strong would survive...................
Pretty much sums up our opinion of gun laws, eh?. |
No offense taken mate. I agree wholeheartedly that our firearms laws suck...but there is nothing we can do about it. There were/are a heap of snarly cranky firearms owners over here too, but the biggest problem we have is we don't have a Constitution like you guys have, consequently we don't have any support in that area.
Cheers, Vince

Eric,
Our Bugs season wont end till 02-29. The time between the end of deer gun season and the end of small game season is one of the "sacred" seasons around here. Rarely does a weekend go by that someone skips a chance at rabbits. It's just "what you do"...

Wild Man,
I used to run eleven sled dogs in the wild to check my trap lines.
All Siberian Huskeys.
Give that a try.
Nothing like riding the sled in the wild behind eleven trained dogs--until one decided to take a dump on the trail.

It is always hunting season here. Black bear in year round. Caribou year round except May, June and July. Grizzly is closed July......open the rest. Wolves all year. Hares all year. Moose is the most restricted season........open most of September. Therefore the rifles are always ready, at least most of them. I do have too many guns to actually use at one time so there are some that live in the safe most of the time. If it isnt too cold(-35 F or colder the snowmachines dont start reliably) we are planning on a caribou hunt in two weeks with snowmachines. There is a large herd 80 miles away and my buddy got a couple last week.

Well predator hunting ends in Feb. and coyote ends in Mar. so I'll probably put most of the guns up here before long, but always have one or two to punch paper with year round. April starts the season of my other hobby, truck pulling so that'll keep me entertained throug the summer. Then about the time that's over it's huntin season again.

I was out shootint a few of my pistols at the range today. I will be out shooting in the morning.
Don't need any special reason to take the guns out.
