Some time back I read something about using Flitz metal polish in the bore of a rifle. It wasn't so much an "accurizing" technique as it was intended to reduce fouling/cleaning. They just used some of the polish on a tight fitting patch and ran it back and forth to remove any rough spots.
I tried this on a .22 Hornet and to be honest can't tell much difference. It didn't seem to affect accuracy any, although I did shot my smallest group with this gun some time after the treatment.
I think there could be some concern about going overboard and damaging the rifling but it can't be a whole lot different than "fire lapping" a bore.
Has anyone else tried it? What do y'all think about it? (Note proper, Southern, use of the word "Y'all".)
