A muzzle guard was mentioned earlier when a Muzzel GUIDE for your cleaning rod is what you want to avoid dammaging the barrel crown. You can find them at Sinclair International.

Yup Popgun muzzle guides are helpful to protect the crown.

You know a 12ga shotgun shell I'm told works great as a rod guide for the M1A/M14 rifles. Smile

Hey Dimitri, it's been over a month now and I am wondering how that new rifle is shooting for you...

Wish I went shooting, haven't went out to shoot it yet. I got 480 rounds sitting in the ammo safe to go shooting. Smile

Haven't decided what near by shooting range to join for this rifle, still haven't had much time to make a day trip out of a shooting session (so debating if a 300-400$ membership wil end up being worth it for me), heck only been fishing once so far this year. Sad

$3-400.00 Membership??? wtf My club charges $70.00 a year for a range house access, targets 200yd range, trap range, Club house, Archery range(indoor and out door) including 3D range. AND an indoor air gun range for the winter fun.
I feel alot better about that $70.00 dollars now. Very Happy

Holy smokes man, that TO sure does not make it easy for you. $300-400 for a membership to a place you'll drive at least an hour to get to, only to have to line up.... Yikes.

If your career is portable, have you thought of moving out west....?

Shooting/hunting is normal out west, it's still part of our culture. There are ranges a-plenty in BC and AB, and not overly expensive either. My range, 5 miles away, costs $30/yr which includes membership in an active F&G club with great guys, plus membership in the BC Wildlife Fed. We have weekly club shoots. Never crowded either, so you can set up targets without being rushed, out to 300yds. Neat hey?

Edit: Crackshot, sounds like you have a great deal for $70, what with the trap and all. Wish we had that...but we're developing an archery range this summer.

Most charge 200-250$ that I've seen, and want another 200-250$ "Initiation fee", plus they want you to apply for membership and get "interviewed" first before they let you be a member and/or references from other club members are required. Confused

Well I could move west, and I'm sure I could land a job. Still haven't thought about it much, mainly cause I like my current job, even though its not the one I was hired for, but its a good job, good pay, and nice people to work with. Smile
