no Sir, I am not going to put the Weatherby free-bore in this chamber...

I am coming out in front of the case neck with a diameter of .2430 with a 1 1/2 degree lead angle. This is the same set up that I also use for the 6mm PPC's and 6mm Bench Rest rifles that I build....

The front of the bolt locking lugs had to be faced and trued so that the fit into the barrel would be much more precise and centered....



This is the start of the new chamber. The "stuff" on the reamer is our new reamer wax that we developed last year, along with our new refridgerated coolant. It helps produce some of the best looking and most precise chambers to date....



These last pictures show the finish of the chamber after cutting with our chamber wax. These was absolutely no polishing done on the chamber what-so-ever. This is an "as cut" finish....

I should have more pictures in the net day or two. The crappie and sand bass are biting good now and I got to get in some fishing time before the guns start pouring in for rebarreling, rechambering and complete builds....

After the barrel was sut up in the lathe "between centers", the shank was cut and ready for threading....




After the shank was turned, the barrel was threaded. After the action was threaded onto the barrel and snugged up against the recoil lug, it was backed off one complete turn and a dial indicator was put on the tang to see how much "play" there was in the thread fit. Total movement was less than .001 in any direction. Headspace was also set at .003 and with my chamber dimensions, fireforming loads should prove to be superble accurate with excellent brass life...




After the barrel work was completed, I had to open up the recoil lug area of the stock so as to allow for the oversize recoil lug....




This shows the magazine box cut out before....




...and this shows the cut-out after filling it with bedding compound....




Just a few more pictures and as soon as I get in the new scope rings, I'll get the scope mounted and then you can see the completed rifle - my wifes new 240 Weatherby Magnum....

The complete action and recoil lug area of the stock is being filled with bedding compound....











The barreled action is now placed in the stock after being coated with release agent. The extra bedding compound that is oozing out around the action let's you know that you have enough bedding material in place....







After the bedding compound has set for 8 hours, the barreled action was removed from the stock and the extra bedding compound was "filleted off" around the edges. There is now 100% full contact with the action and recoil lug with the barrel having absolutely "0" contact with the stock....



















I should have my scope rings in by Tuesday of next week and at that time I will post pictures of the completed rifle....

mate im very impressed. i cant believe how seamless the muzzel break and barre join. you cant even see a joint. thats one beautiful looking gun. wish i could do that to my remington 700. thanks for all the fotos and the process.
