Cheers, Vince

Thanks everyone.Dimitri in answer to your question I will be hunting Moose, elk, mule and whitetail deer, black bear, turkeys ,grouse ,coyote and if I get drawn in the limited entry draw you can add Rocky montain bighorn sheep and grizzly.I know what your thinking, here in B.C we have it pretty rough with all the pulic land available to hunt and the liberal seasons. Laughing All this within 3 house of my house as I live in the okanogan valley in the B.C. interior.

IB,

I hope the first soil your feet touched as a wee lad was Texas soil, or you might lose the chance to be a Texas citizen!

I told that to my daughter when she was expecting, and living in Wyoming. I told her that I was going to send her a box of Texas soil. She moved back, prior to the birth of my grandson, so I didn't have to do that.

What's the price of good hunting land in your part of the country.

Oh, yes, welcome aboard.

Cary

Bandit, my Mom is from MI (Negaunee) and Dad was from NC. I think that gives me dual citizenship in the Union and Confederacy... Wink

Hi Cary,Iwas born here in B.C. and mom was originally from Corpus Christi,Texas.Sorry if the spelling is wrong. As far as what a piece of good hunting property goes,it's free.In B.C. about 90% of the outdoors is Crownland. This means if you are a B.C. resident pick your spot and go.A few areas are being leased based on 100 year leases through the government.Mostly wealthy guys from the states.I guess we can't keep it a secret forever. There are some private native lands that you must get permission to hunt as well. There are still specific guidelines for each region and a limited entry lottery system for some species. For all those intereted in hunting in B.C. and the landscape, check out HuntBC.ca.I am a member of this site and it has a great membership with a lot of knowledge.I would suggest looking at the members photo galleries, lots of great pics.Cheers Steve.

The correct spelling is Corpus Christi. Although, jokingly, we sometimes say Corpus Chrispy. I live about 111 miles inland from Corpus Christi. I drive down there every other month to do an environmental inspection or two. When I go down there, if I get the chance, I run out to the L-Head, where the shrimpers dock. I like to buy the 7 inch (plus) jumbo shrimp. You can get the big jumbos for $6.00 a pound. Everything smaller (cocktail and fryers) sell for $3.00 a pound; now days that’s about the price of good hamburger meat. I like them basted in butter, sprinkled with coarse ground black pepper and cooked over mesquite coals (and washed down with a Shiner Bock) Man, that's good!

Bushy, did you ever dock in Corpus?

Cary

No...But I attended a month long oil spill containment seminar at Texas A&M years ago and stayed at a motel down town Galvistan. That's where I ask the waitress, "What the hell are those little round things in my tossed green salad?" "Garbonzo beans." she said..."Well keep'em outa there!" Next time I was in there she cleaned my salad out of garbonzo beans...By The Way...I tipped her as well as a sailor could for the rest of my stay.

What was that old adage? "The best thing to come out of Texas is US 10." Gotta watch out for those cowpatties though...
