No convulsions, but I can't imagine why someone would do that to a firearm. But I imagine he is the type to top off the oil in his car as the level goes low and never actually changes the oil or the oil filter.

I don't got any oil to change as I don't own a automobile.

Tell ya what Mike...be very interesting to have a look at the Gas Plug and Gas Piston on th FN FAL....thats if you could even get them out, as the gas chamber is probably chockers full of carbon.
Cheers, Vince |
You're right; the gas plug is well & truly stuck in place.

No mate; he isn't like that. Not cleaning the FAL is deliberate & began as an experiment to see how long the rifle would continue operating without cleaning.
I guess the expectation was a few hundred rounds, rather than in excess of fourteen thousand.
The look on AR15 owners' faces when they see the rifle's interior is a joy to behold.

Well I must admit I was semi-kidding about the whole not changing the oil of a car.
Still seems a little excessive. Considering at over 14,000 rounds its well over the service life of most military firearms. So I think he proved already that its a fine firearm.

Come on let me clean it. I really want to clean it. Stupid OCD. I need to clean that gun. When I had time to go to the range I would clean as soon as I got home. Unlike some people (read as my father) who waits for a few days to clean it and then has to pull out the gun scrub.

You think thats bad ?? Your waiting to get home to clean the guns. I clean it after every couple of magazines while I'm still shooting.
Going to try going a whole box or 20 rounds before cleaning my rifles from now on though.

You don't own a car Dimitri.
What are you going to do when you marry my Hoppie???
Are you going to tie cans on the back of your bike, with Hope sitting on the handle bars???
I sure know who is going the wear the pants in your family, and it won't be you.

Eric,
I do not own a car as its a big expense at my current income level. I'm young and rather not pay 300$ a month on insurance alone. Rather spend it on other things and save as much as I can instead.
Still I thought you normally paid someone to drive the limo with the cans tied on the back ?? So no Hope wouldn't be riding the handle bar of my bike.

Eric,
When I said "you" I was referring in general "someone" = "you" gets a limo. Still atleast we are on the same page that you'll pay for the wedding it seems, cause I'm not willing to spend much on a wedding as I'd rather spend it on more useful things.
You know I think if I had a hour with that FAL I'd have it spotless like it just left the factory.

Gosh, I feel guilty and wasteful with my two pickup trucks, an SUV and a car. That's just for my wife and me.
Dimitri, that’s an admirable quality. Most of the younger people I know don’t understand living within your means. One of my daughters is a brilliant business person and probably has the first dollar she ever made. At 28 she’s doing very well. The other two kids (son and daughter-25 and 27 respectively) would blow a million dollars in a month, if they had it. They don’t listen to Daddy like the oldest girl.

Cary,
Well I live on my own and need to be abit more serious about money. Still I cannot fallow a budget, I know how much I need to spend a month, and I know how much I'll end up for "fun stuff". My credit card currently "owes" me a couple of dollars of over payment.
Mind you I shouldn't admit if I had gotten a million dollars I'd be able to blow most of it over night, buy a home on a small farm, and put together my "dream" work shop.

Dimitri,
You'd be spending the million on things that are not considered blowing it. Buying a home and land is never blowing it. I call that a wise investment.
