Or at least get one that has the ability to burn regular wood also. If they make them.

Bushmaster, this is totally off topic but what kind of sword have you got hanging there behind the stove?

That Sword, Sir, is a double edged short sword made in Massachusetts somewhere between 1770 and 1780. There are two of them in existence. I have one and my brother has the other. They belonged to a (many) great grandfather who was a privateer for the Revolution...Had it appraised and the appraiser had one hell of a time finding it. Americans have always made sabors, but not double edged swords. The appraiser figures these were the only two made in the states. The appearence is of a cutlass handle and hilt and a Roman short sword. Only information I have on it and the appraiser could not varify much except that it was made in Massachusetts and the aproximate date.

Gimme a second and I'll post a better photo... That is a .30-06 box supporting it.

Cool stuff Bushy, neat to have a family heirloom like that. When I was up north I heated my house with a woodstove, long winters and get a tad chilly. I burned between 8 and 12 cords per winter, jackpine, spruce and birch. It had a blower fan and I just let the heat rise between floors with a couple of floor grates I put in. I've never used a pellet stove but a couple of folks I know swear by them

I started cleaning this one up last night. It was rapped up in plastic but out side for a month or so there were pellets in the hopper that got damp and jammed up the auger but I believe I got it all straightened out. I am impressed with the blower on the stove, it throws a good amount of air so I think I'll install it in the corner of the living room it will be about 10 feet from the ceiling fan witch should spread the heat around pretty good. it will also be pretty easy to vent in the corner only a couple of feet straight out and I can run the fresh air pipe right out too Very Happy . Oh nice sword bushy and good to see ya tracker ya doin alright Very Happy
Joe

The ones we are lookin at only require a dryer vent type pipe with cold air intake and vent out. If thats the case we might go with it. wont have to cut up the roof.

Thats the way this one is. 3" or 4" depending on the length Mine won't be 3' long and the fresh air pipe is 1 1/4 I think and they both can go right out the side of the house. You can take them through the roof if ya want though. They have close clearance's to combustables too nothing like a wood stove Cool

Thanks Bushmaster! I've seen mid-1800s US artillery short swords similar to that but without the "D guard". The family history makes that absolutely invaluable!

Runs her out of the house??? Generates too much heat?

It's nice to have some good luck Buddy. Ya she says it puts out to much heat. I think it's newer than the one I have now. If it's in better shape I'll put it in the house and put the other one in the shed Very Happy
