Dallan, I'm not a front stuffer shooter, so maybe a silly question but, how do you hunt cold with a muzzleloader mate? Do you load everything except the putting the cap on the nipple or do you do the complete load when game is imminent?

Cheers, Vince

I load up everything but the cap, then cap when I'm going to shoot. Also, a muzzleloader isnt concidered legally loaded unless it is capped as well as being charged with powder/ball. I generally load up my ML the evening before the hunt starts and dont unload it until I shoot something.

H-Joe,

I don't see any "obesticals" around. I guess whatever they are, they already shrivel up, disappeared, run off, or something.

Cary

Check the original "pool" option #2:

I load ours the day before the ML season starts, then leave them "in the cold" (back porch, in the shed, or even in the truck) for the duration of the season, without a primer of course. It eliminates the chances of condensation forming in the barrel, and ruining a shot (we don't get enough shots around here). If we get a good soaking, I'll unload the guns (we shoot T/C Encores, so it's easy to unload them), clean, dry, reload, and put 'em back outside before heading to bed.

Oh Yeah, they are never "capped" until either on-stand, or set up in the ground blind. I guess I have been hunting "cold" in certain circumstances...

I guess this depends on the State and what type of Hunting I'm doing. Here in Mich I hunt Hot most of the time. I unload when climbing a tree or crossing a fence.

This thread has been going on for what seems like weeks.

Until this thread started, I never even worried about hot or cold chambers.

After this topic, I think that when my Wife and I became married, I should have had "I Eric will alway carry a gun with a 1] Hot chamber 2] Cold Chamber.

Maybe I should have named our twins Hot and Cold.

I think that the next time that I go to Confession, I will "confess to going hot"

I want on my Tombstone, "Always kept a Hot Chamber"

Un-Stinkin-Believable wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf

Eric funny guy. Laughing

Seems to me the majority of the active membership uses a hot chamber. Smile

Eric,

Keep up the good work! You keep us laughing, instead of the dismal thought of Obama becoming president.
