My point was that there was plenty of "intervention" prior to WWII that precipitated events and ultimately the war. To characterize the US Gov as having a non-interventionist policy prior to WWII is not very accurate.

Quadafy example is interesting as that was a clear case of state conducting acts of war.

What is happening now is different. I like the idea of Letter of Marque and Reprisal.

Here's my opinion...you can take it however you wish.

Our tough pioneer ancestors believed in one thing, if you want to survive in a tough world, you get tough. We have lots of enemies in the world and people who think we don't are naive or haven't ventured out of their own back yards or tourist hangouts. If you back off and go into the non-intervention, isolationist, or peace-nik mode (what ever you want to call it), they will grow stronger, and they will kill you, and kill you wife and children or grand children, however long it takes. We have relentless enemies in the world and they will eventually attack us again. If we stop killing them, it will be sooner, rather than later. The enemy understands and fears only one thing, and one thing only, total annihilation. If he threatens you, you totally destroy him and his way of life. You don't appease your enemy; you don't hide and act like he's not there, you don’t destroy him and then rebuilding his country. You walk up and knock him flat on his back, stomp him into submission, put your foot on his neck, and then and only then will you consider talking cease-fire. And, you do that while he’s in the planning stage so you don't have to fight the big one.

You are right ,Cary, and that was my point in bringing up Quadafy. He wanted to be a bully boy until we stepped in and kicked his teeth in and then he ran for his life and stayed out of it!!!!!!! You can not be free if you are running scared!!!!!! Smile
