First off the reason Savage stopped making 99's was because the manufacturing equipment was so worn out that hand fitting was required, driving the production cost up.Retooling wasn't practical so they shut er down.
I own a few 99's.My 99A in 250-3000 is my constant companion.I carry 75gr hollow points and 100gr sp in the buttstock shell holder I made.Deer and coyotes don't stand a chance.Accuracy is good on paper and consistently deliver groups under an inch, although it usually speaks to live targets.
You can't go wrong with an action built for black powder that stands up to smokeless Very Happy

I live pretty close to bushmaster and they don't even call it english here, it's american. I had a 99 and liked it but never got the accurracy even close to a bolt gun so I swapped out and never went back, I'm glad you like yours though. sounds like you got a good one. also I didn't put near the work you have into it that's admirable. What treatment do you give to the brass? Do you do anything special there?

Hey Speed Swede,

I am assuming that the picture bild 442.jpg is the finished product from what you call rust bluing. Surprised

It looks wonderful, could you please describe in detail the rust bluing process you used? Confused
