Subject: Medal of Honor Recipients Snubbed by Commander in Chief 1st
time in 50 years

Obama Snubs Nation's Heroes, Becomes the First President to Skip Ball
Honoring Medal of Honor Recipients in Over 50 Years

Submitted by Julie on January 21, 2009 - 10:13pm.
2008 News Politics U.S. Government U.S. Politics World Politics

Barack Obama may have stumbled over his words briefly during his
inauguration, but he made an even bigger blunder later Tuesday evening.
The newly sworn-in President opted not to appear at what should have
been one of the most important Balls on his agenda that evening - "The
Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball."

The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball was begun in 1953 for President
Dwight Eisenhower's inauguration. The event recognized recipients of
the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military award. There were 48
Medal of Honor recipients in attendance, who were undoubtedly
disappointed by the new Commander-in-Chief's failure to show. Over the
past 56 years and 14 inaugurations, no President has skipped this event
- until now.

The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball is sponsored by the American Legion,
and co-sponsored by 13 other veteran's service organizations, including
those such as the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Military Order
of the Purple Heart.

Instead of attending this ball honoring our nation's heroes, Obama was
busy making stops at 10 other official balls. Obama and his wife's
first stop was at the Neighborhood Ball. From there they went to the
Home State Ball for Illinois and Hawaii, the Commander-in-Chief Ball,
the Youth Inaugural Ball, and the Home State Ball for Delaware and
Pennsylvania. They finished off the night with brief appearances at the
Mid-Atlantic, Western, Midwest, Eastern, and Southern regional Balls.

Celebrities were a plenty at the balls, with Stevie Wonder, Shakira,
Mary.
J. Blige, Faith Hill, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, will.i.am,
Sting, Mariah Carey, and Leonardo DiCaprio in attendance at the
Neighborhood Ball.
In addition, the other nine balls also featured a star-studded lineup
including Kanye West and Kid Rock at the Youth Ball, Marc Anthony at the
Western Ball, and Cheryl Crow at the Western Ball.

It was the party without all of the celebrities that Obama skipped.
The very people who he sought to have support him during his candidacy
and campaign, who have fought to protect this country, were snubbed in
favor of publicity and the opportunity to rub shoulders - yet again -
with the out-of-touch Hollywood elite!

SHAME ON YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA. THESE BRAVE MEN CAME TO RESPECT YOU, YET
YOUR BLATANT FAILURE TO RECOGNIZE THEM SENDS THEM AND ALL WHO HAVE
FOUGHT TO DEFEND THIS NATION, THE WRONG MESSAGE. MAKE NO EXCUSES MR.
PRESIDENT - WE NOW KNOW WHERE VETERANS STAND UNDER YOUR WATCH!

This message needs to be sent around the world 100 times and personally
to President Obama on a regular basis. Will you assist in getting that
done?
Don't add or detract anything to or from this, and also be RESPECTFUL,
no matter how you feel about it!

I can't describe how that makes me feel I really can't. Yet another slap in the face to this country. The people that voted for CHANGE certainly got it didn't they. I hope we all live through it.

Here is what the American Legion had to say about this:

According to the blog, the Legion's media relations manager Craig Roberts wrote, "President Obama was invited but did not attend. Vice-President Joe Biden did appear, however, and was very warmly received. The new President's absence was understandable considering the unprecedented logistical challenges presented by the vastly increased number of visitors to this inauguration and the necessary attendant security measures. The American Legion, as an organization, does not feel offended or 'snubbed.'"

Let's keep the facts straight gang.
We have at least four more years with Obama, and half truths can ruin this Country.

I agree with Paul. The point is, if there were dozens of parties, why did he choose to avoid this one.

When President Bush was in charge, I hated the way that the democrats trashed him for no reason.
They made things up about him, and called it fact.

For myself, I don't want to stoop as low with Obama, as they did with Bush.

When Obama does something that I disagree with, I will say so, but I won't hop onto the crap throwing wagon.
It lowers me to the liberals level of life, where I won't go.

EB,

Those are good points, but*

Look at the so called economic recovery plan, it is more a spending plan, $400 million for the Endowment of Arts, $35 0 million for STD's, come on.

And, who was approves as Secretary of the Treasury, an tax dodging, liar. This guy wants you to believe only he can save the economy, BS out of the 4 years of tax evasion he has only paid 2, and then only under duress.

Oh yeah, now let's talk about his nominee for Attorney General, who has said he does not believe that an individual has the right to own arms, AFTER the Supreme Court upheld the 2nd Amendment. The AG is supposed to uphold the Constitution as written and interpreted by the Supreme Court, this guy won't.

EB, I think very highly of you, but you should take a closer look at what Obama is doing.

Someone on this site once said the BO would be too busy with the recovery to worry about firearms, he does not have to worry about firearms, that's why he is loading the Government offices with people who are extreme leftist.

You are spot on with your thoughts Lester.

That is my point.

We have enough things to get on Obama-- RIGHTFULLY--that we don't have to go the low route with half truths.
What happens, is that if we complain about everything that he does, like the Heros Dinner, nobody will listen to actual facts like the ones that you just stated.
Our remarks become "white noise"

It doesn't hurt at all on this forum because we pretty much all agree with each other, but when we take this attitude outside, to the public, we have to stay with the actual facts.

My basis for this is that I have been politicly active for a long time, and I know what works and what doesn't work.

I want this guy out of office in four years, and plan to work hard to get it done.

President Huckabee, or President Palin would sound pretty good four years from now. Very Happy

Eric

PS--It really pisses my Wife off, when I go around calling him President Hussein though. Mad Mad

E. Very Happy Very Happy

EB,

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

My greatest concern is that many people do not believe that he will work hard to create a socialistic government, and in the process liberate us from clinging to God, Country, and our firearms.

I believe that his actions on the economic front will be a disaster, and the resultant run away inflation will bring about a call for his impeachment.

Very glad to hear that you are so involved in politics, as am I.

I think it is up to us to ring the bell, and try to educate others about what a disaster this type of plan has caused in other countries.

I believe it was Venezuela who tried this type of economic stimulus plan, it failed miserably. When it failed their Government took everyones IRA's and 401K's (they call them different things, but they amount to the same thing) and although they took everyone's personal saving it did nothing to improve that economy.

I'll bet that the Polosi gang and BO are already thinking about a redistribution of those funds, from the people who earned it to people who sit on their collectives as--s.

A little conjecture perhaps but, we need to be diligent. And, tell the less concerned why they need to support conservatives.

EB

I understand your points, and to me it wasn't about if the American Legion was offended. As a Iraq Vet and a current member of the U.S. Military I am offended. This shows me where Obama's priorities are before he even gets out of the batters box.

I already knew he wanted to shrink the military to the size of a local boyscout group. But to decide to go to other events where Hollywood was present and not even make an appearance to our real nations hero's that offends me, and should offend everyone.

Every other President that has come before him found time to make an appearance at this ball. Now I know for a fact that rubbing shoulders with Kanye West instead of talking to someone who received the medal of honor and is still here to talk about it today, is more important to our current President, and it pisses me off.

The entire reason I have posted this article was to point out that the new U.S President thinks the Military and our national security is not really important, and his pre-9/11 mentality puts us all at risk.

As a boy being raised my father always said to me that you can judge the character of a man by the company he keeps?

And in this case he had chosen not to keep company with the men who will die to defend him and me. So such a poor choice of ours to put him in this position in our country.

Duce, on this one you are 100% off of the mark.

Look who his National Security Advisor is, Gen. James Jones, a decorated Marine.
He kept Bob Gates as Defense Secretary, and with Hillary at State Dept., Obama has as tough of a National Security Team as Bush did.

Like I said, I believe in agreeing with him when I think he is right, and going after him when he is wrong.

Once a month, my Parish drives folks the long distance to the Twin Cities to protest in front of the murder mills.[abortion clinics]
Be active, but don't throw horse dung.

For my own private enjoyment, I just ordered from Graf & Sons, a 20 round Beretta Model 96 .40cal magazine to play with.
It is just my way of spitting in the eyes of the bleeding hearts.
I plan to name the clip Sarah, [as in Brady]
I might even put her name on it just for giggles. Very Happy

We have to keep up the pressure, but must keep our raw emotions in check, [have a private laugh like I just did], or Obama and the democrats will be in office for a long time.

Eric
