Good morning gentlemen! Very Happy

.45-70 GG plans got nixed. Funds, etc...ya know.

Anywho- My bud just got one of these in .243, it's still in quarntine so I've not shouldered it yet but it is making me rather randy for one... we've already got dies, a bunch of brass and such for it and we can split reloading costs, same is why I'm leaning towards this chambering.

That said, what are your thoughts on:

* The trigger...serviceable as is or will it need a job from the git go...I hate crappy triggers. Mad

*Bore life and prefered bullet weight to maximize same (heavier or lighter? New ground for me with this cartridge....).

*Etc. and general comments.

I fancy the TH stock one...it's 8# w/a 24" bbl. no info on the pull dag nabbit. But it's 120$ more.

The MC stocked unit is 7# w/ a 22" bbl., 14.25" pull and it comes with a much nicer pad. I'm leaming towards this one as the diff in price could go for optics.

I'll be using it for bench or general target shooting. No hunting really unless something small, furry and really asking for it (feral cat Laughing ) wanders into view. These look to be seriously fun shooters and the price is right.

I would love to hear your comments and critisizms.... Discuss! Razz

Laughing I've got a pair of those in 223(NEF's),out of the box accuracy is fair, and triggers are somewhat less than desireable-definately need a good tuning!Function is however flawless! My question for you is what type of "critter" do you plan on hunting with 243 cal?I have found in my bolt gun that the 87-90 grn bullets seem to perform the best for all around critter use,as well as for making holes in paper. Very Happy

Copy that, thanks.

Did you find the tirigger 'married' in some and slicked up with use or is it yucky and stays yucky. (gritty, stiff, creepy even for transfer bar, etc....?)

And as stated, general (casual) target shooting.

That TH is really sharp looking. Might need more pad though. Like the longer bbl too. And the xtra pound.

Scope- make/model, undecided. Always happy to listen to others.

Doing some long range 'creative financial forecasting' at the moment. Wink Hmmmm....bullets or beans, bullets or beans.....

I have one of their Buffalo Classic 45-70
Great stuff!!

With my ho-ho-ho-holow point ammo, I can get 1 to 2 inch group at 100 meters (120yards?)

Heck I pick heads off rabbits at 50 meters with them!! Very Happy

Trigger job on these lightning sticks are not easy, you have to pretty much pull the whole FCG out.

Good thing owning them is the fact that if you want to change caliber, all you got to do is to get a new barrel.

Definitely great gun for the price!!

Opps- Embarassed

CEL just came on in the ol' truck. I scanned it and it needs a mass airflow sensor...a rear brake shoe just pooped the bed too.

No more gun buying for a bit.... Ol' Blackie needs some attention. Sad

Thanks fer the input gents, much mucho. Cool
