Airborne!
I had a very similar event in Hoenfels Germany pulling motor pool guard in the late hours of the night my partner in crime and I could hear the clikity clack of little hooves in the rocks when we found a cute little wild boar. So we started chasing it around and basically tormenting it trying to catch it. Well that didn't last long when mommy and a half dozen ugly friends come to see what was the matter. They had us up on top of a truck for about four hours. Our first problem was getting in trouble for drinking and earning an extra guard shift. The second problem was the boars had us trapped in the far part of the motor pool. When the staff duty officer came to check on us and didn't find us a call went to our First Sergeant and once again we were in deeper trouble for leaving our post. Our relief didn't find us for a good hour after they got called to come on duty early. It wasn't until we were standing tall in front of the First Sergeant the next afternoon that he found out we were treed by boars that he developed a sense of humor about it. I didn't exactly like his humor because it earned me the graveyard shift for the next week, as remedial training. So as far as I'm concerned I have a big score to settle with the stinky boars!!!!!!! I'd hate to think of that, I was convinced he was a homicidal psychopath as it was. He was always hollering at me Mad except the night he picked me up at the MP station, he just saved it for the next morning. Mad Ahh to be young again. Very Happy Evil or Very Mad Very Happy

I had A LOT of fun when I was in the army!!! There were a few times that the wild boars get the best of us.

This bean field thing is a lot like archery hunting!!! As soon as you get things figured out and make a stand adjustment.......................they decide to enter in a different location. Bang Head

The one thing that is fact though...........even if we fill all the permits it’s not going to solve his problems. We have seen 5 different bucks, and as near as we can figure 15 different doe. I can’t help but wonder how many aren’t coming out until after dark?

Will they let you spotlight them Chambered....I understand that you guys don't consider that sporting, but at the end of the day all you are doing is culling.

Hunting them with a spotlight will go a long way to solving the problem, but won't give them much of a sporting chance.

Food for thought mate.

Cheers, Vince

No spotlighting allowed!!! Some of the regulations still apply for culling.

Spotlights are used and accepted for coon and coyote hunting.

I guess if hogs were the problem - then similar to both Wiersy and my experiences, all you would need to do is post a couple young soldiers out there and they will come out, once they have the GI's treed, take your shot.

My problem with the deer and elk is that they will get up on the hay piles and urinate and the cows won't eat it. I have not seen what they will do to the crops proper, but I doubt it will be much better as they probably kick up the greens.

My parents live in Alaska and my dad was pretty proud of his cabbage patch this year - always having to share it's growth with me over the phone - about a week ago the dogs went crazy - dad went out on the deck to find a young cow moose grazing away at his prized cabbage - dad doesn't hunt anymore, but if he would have had a rifle, I think he may have had to sight-in and run a round or two down range....
