Well I guess I must have been on crack then! Oh wait that wasn't invented yet.
But I still know what we had. There is no conspiracy theory here but if there was and RFI or test that only encompassed a small amount of weapons would it be news worthy.
When did the navy transition from the 1911 to the M9? We still had 1911's until about 1990.

That's about the same time frame I believe.

If you call a light infantry unit "forward" our 1911's wore standard sights till they were turned in @1991 for m-9's also.

That's a nice piece ya got there.
We were Mech Infantry stationed close to the Fulda Gap in Germany, any further forward deployed and you would be on the wrong side of the fence.

I shoot the 1911 in Major & BHP in Minor because I'm an old stick-in-the-mud.
If I was allowed to carry then the BHP might or might not be replaced by the CZ85 but the 1911 would most certainly be replaced by a CZ97B.
If I feel the need for something heavier than 9mm, then I'll take 10+1 over 7+1 any day.
I'll admit that ergonomics has a lot to do with it, as I can close my eyes, lift the '97 to the firing position, open my eyes & the sights are were they'd need to be. It just doesn't happen with the grip angle on the 1911 & I have to "relearn" it every time.

The 1911 is the only gun I'll ever carry.

I wouldn't make a brash statement like that whittling. I prefer 1911 platform pistols when carrying only because I am quite familar with them and their operating levers, buttons and function. With that said. I also carry revolvers on ocasion.
You're young yet and have no idea what you will have to choose from in the future or what you will carry when you reach age to carry...

Did you ever run across someone who said that "XYZ is the best ever!' and then you find out that he's never tried anything else? The guys who's opinions I respect are the ones who have tried a number of things and tell you "My personal preference is ...", with solid reasons to back up their choice.

Wiersy111...I bet you are probably sick and tired of "opinions" about now with 15 pages of "opinions" so far...

As far as I know everything is bone stock except the sights, but they were on it when I got it. Millet targets ( kinda like a crosshair for your pistol ). It shoots so good I'll probably not change anything on it but I don't carry it as I prefer d.a. for carry like my .357 Sig239 my usual.
