I know I've used it in the .220 Swift before. Can't remember details though.

I couldn't get a consistent load in my 3006 but it did work in my 308 with 130 grain bullets.
The powder is not really ideal in any of these calibers but I tried it so go for it!

Took a look in Hodgdon's "Annual Manual" from '08 (Guess I better get the new one!). It has no loads for the .223 Rem or .308 Win using H-380. There are loads for the .243 Win and .30-06.

As best I can work out...H380 is equivalent (approximately) to Reloader 15 and Norma 203...slower than W748 but marginally quicker than W760.

What does this mean...well, I would suggest that it isn't really suitable for the .223 Rem and MAY be marginally suitable in the .308 Win, but only using bullets between 170gn and 190gn. I emphasis MAY be suitable. Without the correct loading data I would be loathe to use it.

There are much more suitable powders out there for your chosen calibres KH..in fact I reckon you would be hard pressed to find a more versatile , and suitable, powder than Varget.

Cheers, Vince

Hodgdon's site says "This was an unnamed spherical rifle propellant when the late Bruce Hodgdon first used it. When a 38.0 grain charge behind a 52 grain bullet gave one hole groups from his 22 caliber wildcat (now called the 22-250), he appropriately named the powder H380. H380 is also a superb performer in the 220 Swift, 243, 257 Roberts and other fine varmint cartridges." You might want to go to the Hodgdon site and use their data program to search for H380 loads for your various cartridges. If they don't show it listed for those you are interested in, it is probably a waste of time trying to use it for that particular cartridge.

Ran into a guy at the range one day shooting a Ruger 77 in 30-06 loaded with 150gr bullets pushed by H380. He was shooting clover leaf 3 shot groups at 100 yards!!! He allowed me to shoot a group with it and I was amazed at how much less felt recoil it had compared to my 700 Rem with IMR4350.

I also have a friend that loads it in a pair of .338 Winchesters (Browning A-Bolts).......Both guns shoot well under MOA @ 100

I use it in my .320 Howell behind 180 noslers it seems to work good in cartridges with a little less resistance ( either from necking down or bullet weight. )
