Was shootin' some trap yesterday and was trying out a new choke/gun. First station, after my 2nd shot, reached up to grab the choke and check it for tight w/ my ungloved hand. (Yes- it's unloaded, barrel/action broken open etc....it's an extended choke), it was loose so I gave it a twist. (the knurled extension is made for just that. It also has recesses for a wrench, blah blah blah).
Third shot comes to me at my first station. I mount the gun, call for the bird, notice a ton of blood on my right hand.....
I'm bleedin' but good!
I must have cut it on the choke wrench cut-outs. They were so sharp I didn't even notice. I jam my finger in my pocket, then my mouth (fuzz and lint!!) and keep the rhythm going for two more shots before we change stations. The gent in my squad to my right can't see this and he and the guy next to him are really on a roll and I don't want to bust his groove or the squad's rhythm so I stay in and keep shooting.
I'd suck my finger till it's my turn to shoot then, load a shell, call a bird, then (try and) wipe the gun down and re-stick my finger in my mouth. I scored maybe a 10 out of 25, I didn't check and was still bleeding. It was a little distracting. No one else really noticed so I did a decent job of hiding it.....
Then the jokes came.
So did all the band-aid's.
Oh joy of joys. Takin' one fer the team 'cuz it's all about the Squad.
The choke gets a teeny-tiny drop of medium Loc-Tite when we get home and, a filing.
Finger gets some suture tape.
Thank God for checkering...weeeeeeeeee!

Damn that hurts. I had an experience with my M9 on the qual range a few years ago. It was a cold October day being the smart guy I am I didn't want to shoot with gloves on. I had a dumb ass moment and put my thumb wrong, the first shot the slide cycled I felt something but kept shooting the set. I had blood everywhere. I didn't want to go off the line and have to go again so I just put mt glove on and kept shooting. When i finally looked at it there was a puddle in my glove. Came close to losing a thumb that day.

I was stupidly showing a guy how to fly fish and was standing too close to him (that's what I do) he threw out the fly, pulled up the rod tip and planted the fly in my forehead. Not a crimped down hook either. Made my eyes water takin it out.
Stupid
