Pictured below is a new project piece. It is a Ruger .45 Colt that my father picked up for me for the sum of $25. The former owner just wanted to get rid of it and Dad knew I would enjoy restoring it.

There is a pretty good list of things I plan to do: Shorten the barrel to 4 5/8", gloss-powder coat the grip frame, install new front sight (of course), re-blue, re-time and refit parts, grips and etc. Thankfully the chambers and bore are perfect. It looks like it was barely fired, just stored and neglected. Most of the finish damage was from being stored on a salt-water boat without proper protection (leather holster).

Hey SSL...looks like you got a labour of love in front of ya mate. It looks a bit grotty...but that appears to be only superficial.

Enjoy the project mate, I reckon it will be great. Looking forward to the "before" and "after" pics mate.

Cut the barrel to 4 5/8" today and am working on draw-filing the pits out. May have to replace the grip frame entirely too. Looks like someone tried to remove the corrosion with a hand-sander and cut into the rear support "ears" of the grip frame. No big deal...for the price I figure I can afford to put quite a bit into it before it stops being a bargain! Will post pictures at various stages.

I always enjoy a good project. I've brought several leverguns back from the edge, but never tried a revolver. Looks to be a fun challenge.
