BSA's are strictly for rim fires. the center fire rifles will kick the guts out of them real soon.(unless its a 223,22-250, 223wssm....)
I would use (and do) a Simmons on a 300win mag. 7 years later and no problems. If you want a Good scope Buy a Weaver, you can spend a few dollars and do it several times replaceing a cheap scope or spend alittle more and not have to do it again, its up to you. If you scrape enough $$ for a rifle dont skimp and put a TURD on it for sights.....

originally BSA's were made as shotgun scopes. the main problem with them is once the crosshairs have been set awhile they dont like to be moved. if you set it and forget it they actually arent a bad scope.

i have a cats eye BSA 3.5-10x50mm on my rem 700 22-250 . its been on it for like 3 yrs and so far 500 plus rounds later it is still staying on target . as for a 300 rum i can`t say if this scope will be the one you want .. my 2 cents worth ,lol

UltraMag1981: I agree with the consensus here; BSA is best left to rimfire rifles.

Regardless of which Leupold, they are all manufactured to the same recoil tolerance. Our shop sells Leupolds starting at $199 and of all the scope brands we handle, Leupolds are returned the least often. Their warranty and customer service is second to none.

In our area (Arizona), it takes some persistence to draw big game tags. When drawn the average hunter will usually invest several days, gallons of gas and all the stuff needed to hunt. IOW, hundreds of dollars. I find it counterproductive to try to scrimp on either glass or bullets.

I agree Handloader With Leupolds rifleman series even the average paycheck can afford one . A gold ring Leupold for $200 bucks is hard to beat and your right we spend so much time in preperation for the hunt ( scouting,testing loads ect.) It's just not worth it your optics is the last thing you want to worry about in the field.

For the present I will keep my Redfield 3 X 9 - 40mm Compact 5 star. It's mounted on my Browning A-Bolt .30-06. Its been there sense 1995 and has not needed much adjustment except for older eyes and various changes in hand loaded ammunition. Its been a damn good scope...

You know, i just thought of what i used to do buying Leupold and Burris scopes years ago.

Buy it used for cheap, drop it if it isn't already messed up, send it in under it's lifetime warranty.......and get a brand spankin new one!

I have one BSA scope a Catseye 1.5-4.5x 32mm scope with lighted reticle.
I am very happy with this scope, I have it on a 50cal muzzle-loader and it's been rock solid. I wish I didn't spring for the lighted reticle, I do like i, but it adds weight to scope ( atleast 1/4 pound) in my eyes. The scope has great eye relief 5inches which is great on a 50cal or shotgun. The only thing I don't like on this scope is the rubber finish on the out side of the scope, it looks great, but will leave scope ring marks is scope is removed amd moved around from gun to gun. I would by another BSA 1.5-4.5x Catseye scope, it's alot of scope for $50 bucks. Maybe, I got a the the only good one.

Shame on you 10ring! I bet you even went and bought them at the pawn shops like I do....er... I ...Uh ...mean like I hear OTHER people do, yeah that's right. I hear other people hit the pawn shops after Christmas looking for used Leupolds to buy and then send in for repair.

I've had one of the Maine Vue Optics scopes since they came out in 2005. It's a Maine Guide series 3-12x50AO. I haven't had any problems at all with it using it on my .270 and shot my biggest buck to date with it a 204lb 8-pointer. I found a couple online product reviews about them.

I donno i like my bsa 6x24/44 it is nice steady and clear.. great for the price of a hundred bucks...

Have 2 BSA's to send in now, one took a crap on my .264 win. mag., but did survive for about 4 yrs. somehow, the newest did the same on a .223!
Imagine that. They are both the 6-24x50 scopes. Hope they replace them (I think) or better yet, refund my money so I can buy a couple of Bushnell's to replace them with. p.s. the one on the .223 was only shot exactly 29 times! I too have never bought a real expensive scope but yrs. ago I got a V12F from Weaver (like 24 yrs. ago) for $82 and it's still going strong. I also saw a cheap Simmons lose it's crosshairs after two shots on a Marlin .44 mag. rifle. Just some personal experiences.
