Been having to return a lot of mail-order stuff of late and I'm kinda done with it.

Junk stuff that fails, wrong stuff, damaged stuff....return, return, return....argh. Mad Did some research and found I can get all I need within one hours drive from home base. I'm going forward with a more "hands-on" shopping as the couple bucks I've saved have been gobbled up in PIA interest, not to metntion the turnaround time. Got 4 tracking numbers going right now for returned stuff.

Won't mention names but...my last order of hunting boots? One split at the heel during their first hunt Monday, what a mess. Ever had a boot fill up with gravel and red ants? I'm done I tell's ya!

Mail order can be darn frustrating for sure. I feel your pain. Lately though, I've had good luck with mailorder. Got my new pair of boots last week from Cabela's and they have been great so far. Some things one just can't buy around here, so have to depend on mailorder. Hope all smooths our for you. Smile

About the only mail order items I've had good luck with over the past year have been guns bought on AuctionArms.
Sneakers - three returns before the size came back as ordered. Scope - first two tries damaged in shipping.

I sure got lucky with the guns, though.

You can still order higher quality equipment on line but if you don't know what you really want, best to go hands on. I've been buying more at gun shows lately just because of that.

Got two shipments going back as of now. The Gamo and these boots. That's a lot of money tied up in limbo 'till I get refunded.

Thankfully I've had a couple retailers locally step up with more hunting stuff and reloading supplies and I got the managers ear in one store and he sidelines stuff for me so...I'm finally out of the mail order loop. And that's a good thing! Good grief, 20 extra bucks for hazmat on an order of primers or powder? NEVER AGAIN! Not to mention we can't get HG ammo in the mail anymore out here.

Yeh- it aint all bad. But it must be my luck or something, every second or third thing I order ends up being a big POS, is the wrong thing all together or gets delivered trashed. There goes another two weeks at least waiting, doing without, etc. So I'm all done with it! Plus I like helping the local spots.

OK- off to score some boots, LOCALLY. Them Jackabunny's aint gonna hunt themsevles. Razz

Lil (late) update here on the done with mail order thingy:

Went to Big 5 and got these boots, made by RG (Response Group). 40$. Got some tactical boots by them too and they seem to hang in there, but I digress. These Hunter's also have 200gr of Thinsulate, and, I took a hose to them and they didnt leak. Also have no nylon panels, they are all solid panels so my feet stayed clean in the rocks, dust and sand. Not one sticker, pebble etc got in. Pulled my feet out and they were clean as a whistle.

Got several miles of knocking around in them, time in the garage and one good, gnarly, hot hunt. They show zero wear and man, they are COMFY. My feet are jacked, esp my left one as it's been crushed several times ( frozen stumps, dirt bike, et. al.) and it's hard for me to find comfy boots that last.

As ya'll know I'm on a realy tight budget so when I find a deal on something I gotta share in case there's others out there hunting on a dime like me.

Two big toes up!
