Call me dumb if you like but what the hell is a BOT. Thought it was where u whack a kid when the naughty. |
BOT is short for Robot, its basically Google, Bing, Yahoo ect that scans through the site so when you go to one of those search engines and search for say, ballistics. HuntingNut.com will show up in the results.

81 visitors and 7 bots this morning.
I have noticed we have alot of visitors lately it would be great to get a few more to join in the discussions just as long as Vince can keep up with the beer.
hey Vince have you got any of those downtown browns for the rest of us to try?

Mike if the link is like this one:
www.huntingnut.com/ind...ur_Account
Its the generic one, unless its got your name or your ID in the ?name=XXXXX point your just being redirected to the generic one which defaults into your actual account profile. When you click on the generic link.
Your probably not being watched personally.

The only way for websites like Google, Bing etc to know about a site so they show up in search results is to search through the sites on a regular basis.
I wish software could be standardized slightly so that the website could publish a search items / results file the bots could just pull down instead of spidering through the entire site.

Dallan,
A robot.txt file can be made, I do believe Google at least will accept them and I think Yahoo.

2 visitors this morning and 105 now. the system seemed to run real quick this morning and has slowed again now so I guess the best time for me to browse is early in the morning.

I think Ive worked out a quicker way to move around the site.
when lots of visitors are onboard my computer takes ages to go "home" but if I go to furum index it goes straight away. and I see I can access posts since last visit from there too, heres hoping its not a fluke and continues to work.
