That is pretty serious power in an air rifle. Putting a 430 gr bullet right through a pig is no mean feat.

I note he said the gas cylinder is made of carbon fibre...pretty strong stuff, but has a finite life before it needs replacing.

An interesting thought for a home defence gun.

Yeah...you are right mate. Mongrel ANTIs.

The druggies don't seem to booby trap the houses over here, but they put some pretty elaborate booby traps in and around their drug crops in the bush.

Although the rifle had a bloody long barrel it would be interesting to see it against deer. Looked like the hog hunting was quite tame not like chasing bailing and sticking them here!

here in Kiwi land we hunt dogs with dogs. finders sniff them out bailers bark in their face to keep them in place a good bailer will only apply enough pressure to keep the pig in place but make enough noise to tell the boss where to run to, a holder sometimes staffie/bull dog type will go in and hold mr piggie by his ears usually although the best holders know to grab his nuts if he breaks away it sure stops them in a hurry.when the hunter arrives he/she will shoot the pig if has finder bailer type dogs or will send in the heavy artillary (the holders) and tip the pig over and send knife into the notch of brisket to the heart or main blood vessels.
when I was younger and living on farm I had great pig dogs, border collies/eye/heading dogs no less slin build fast and VERY cleaver. smoke would hold any pig up to 75-80lb on his own and with mates anything was in trouble.he caught us a heck of alot of pork and was a good dog on stock work aswell. the best dogs ( like Smoke) would find ,bail and hold if asked to. straight holders are a pain in the butt as they chew up young pigs dont bark to tell you where they are and catch and release isnt a option. whereas a good bailing dog gives you the choice to kill or to call dogs off and walk away. good policy with a pregnant sow or young pigs to let em grow bigger.

As Elvis says some of us don't carry a gun pig hunting and rely on getting up close and personal, very exciting stuff, I personally haven't stuck a pig but have been around plenty of times with guys that did. I prefer taking the gun and making sure the bacon doesn't get some revenge. I have seen some very painful and nasty cuts inflicted by a pig - the dogs take a hammering though especially on big old boars. There are some excellent pighunting vidoes from NZ which gotta be seen to be believed - its all open range stuff, no fences or setting feed dumps.
My best pig was a 200 lb boar with 4.5' tusks. A bloody heavy carry. That weight is on the hook after gutting. Unfortunately I only have older film photos of it because we didn't have a digital camera but I will see if I can take a photo of a photo and post it.

The grow ops in the golden horseshoe (Toronto and around the west side of Lake Ontario down to Niagara Falls) set up booby traps on their crops also. I have come across several of them while investigating habitat offences. I once had to draw my sidearm to get the biologist that was with me to freeze and not set off a zip gun trip wire right in front of her. She was scared and I was more scared. I got no love for those shit rats. The real stink of it was that this was in an area right adjacent to a residential area where kids could have been hurt or killed. Infantry training kicked in I guess.
