For those that haven't seen it, or missed the post, our mate Grey_Wolf lost his wife yesterday after a long illness. The ongoing story was in amongst the Guys, RUOK? thread so I thought it was deserving of it's own thread. Apologies to Elvis and Gelandangan for not moving your condolence posts over guys.
Below is the last couple of posts from Grey_Wolf...

Thanks. It's tough not to let it show. In my mind I always knew this would take her sooner than later, her going into the hospital just brought it up to the here and now. As long as she was at home I was safe if that makes sense - she was with me. |

Well Vince - the good Lord saw fit to take her from me today. I know she isn't suffering anymore and am happy for that but that doesn't make it any better for me. I'm shattered and at a loss of what to do. Junior has come to spend a few days with me.
It's been tough to watch. I was taking care of her till the last few weeks and drove to the city daily to spend a few hours with her. What an awful disease |

On such occasions it's difficult to find words... condolences and hopefully your house is not to empty now. Keep your mind filled with good memories.

Thankfully she isn't suffering any more. It was difficult at the end. Thank you for all your prayers and condolences. God bless you all. Knowing it is coming doesn't make it any easier, in some ways harder I think. I have a whole in my heart and in my life now, a piece of me went with her.

You will never get over missing her but it hurts less each year. You know that she wants you to be happy so that is the best way to serve her memory. Find happiness where you can and know that there are more people who love you than you know.

My prayers are with you, now it's time for YOU to recover. Take advantage of what people offer, it'll make you both feel satisfied in grief.

A lot of friends offer "whatever you need, if I can help just call'. I really don't need anything right now other than to have her back but that can't happen, I'm numb, hurt, tired and scared. Nobody can help me with that. My son has come home to spend a few days and he can help with a couple of chores but really there isn't anything. I plan on taking a trip to go see Mom and some other family in a month or so then will need to go the other direction to see some of her family and friends. Some of her friends have been the most supportive it's amazing.
I have a buddy that is keeping in close contact. We've been friends for years. He's has pretty strong faith and talking with him has helped. We've helped each other through scrapes and hard times before.

Grey Wolf,
My condolences to you and your family.
This will be one of the toughest times you will experience and as you've noticed you suffer a lot of it alone. How alone is up to you.
Life is a miracle that has an ending, that has an effect on those left behind.
Grieve for your wife, remember the good times, enjoy your family.
Life goes on, whether we like it at the time or not.
You and your wife no doubt had discussions before she passed, what did she want for your future? Remember that.
Time will dull the pain, you'll never forget her, you'll always miss her but there will be a time to move on with your life, that is also part of life.
Ask for help when you need it, talk with your close friends, cry, dont bottle it up.
I wish you well mate, chin up.
