Played hooky between storms and hit the fields for some bush kicking!

Took my mountain pump as it's super tight and I usually only get one shot and it makes it much easier to mark the bird and police my hulls.

Took my time getting out there as it's been cold, snowy and rainy and I knew they'd be on roost 'til it warmed up some....took a 5 min. stroll and got on the birds early! Oh yeh! Very Happy

I missed, duh, so I climbed a small rise and after spell did some calling. 5 min's latter on the opposite rise the conga line comes ripping over- 1, then, 3, then 2, 3 more, 5 more and so on...nice bunch. Work my way over and ended up getting too close. They are feeding all around me, boss cock on a branch is checking me out, 'bout this time I wished I'da brought a pellet rifle!

So I grabbed a hand full of dirt and chucked it at them, no affect, so I popped one in the air and that gottem flying! Game on people! Got 2 and worked the bunch for a few mins. then left.

Came back an hour later to a slightly different spot and did some more calling and yup, here they came. Same as the first push but I didn't get any, they were back flushing from big cover so by the time I scrambled around to the other side to get a shot they were gone.

I was getting worked playing hide-n-seek so I took a brake to let them regroup. Came back and got one more then called it so I would'nt pressure them too much cuz it was getting around 2:00PM so...lettum rest, get some food, roost up relaxed so someone else can have at them too. Plus I was tired from playing ring-around-the juniper bush all day, I was getting dizzy!

What a sparkling, crisp day with patches of snow and an awsome sky. The birds were chatty and responding well to calls so late in the season, it was a perfect hunt, the full Monte with lots of action and nature sounds.

Merry Christmas everyone! Very Happy

(note- gun's unloaded and wedged between lights- aint no chance of it falling or ND. But still, bad form, I know! Don't lean guns on vehicles people!)

Bahhh!! Humbug!!

You know...I haven't seen any quail, grouse or pheasant around here. And just two doves that inhabit my wild rose in the spring and summer.

What did kill those birds, the gun or the car?

Smile

And also Merry ...
hope things will only improve from now on.

By the way: is that such a car that's available in all colours as long as it's black?
It sure fits the gun.

Good eye.

Did some work to ol' Blackie too. Got tired of the bumpers dragging on stuff. So I lifted it 4" front, 2" rear and added some HID's and Pro-Comp AT tires. 160,000 miles and still going strong. Put that in yer Chevy pipe and smoke it! And, it still juuuust fits in the garage. Had to add a block to the back wall so as not to knock the lamps off. The whole project literally came down to half an inch or less on every aspect. I might go another 1" up in the rear too once the front settles in...still waiting on that to happen. Removed the sway bar too in front now it articulates nicely. Not bad for a 1996 FORD! Very Happy

First pic is a before shot....

The rest are after....try not to get confused Bushy... Confused

Not to shabby. I had a 92 ext cab like that, I drove the wheels right off of it.

That's a good looking 96!
But then it's a Ford, not hardly broke in yet.
I have three Fords; 2 1973 Mavericks and a 1966 Muskrat (used to be a Mustang but I made a few changes to it).

Well, none of my Fords will ever see 120000 miles until it comes around the second time...
Glad to see you are getting some mileage on that Chevy. They were never that good to me.

Haha Haha Haha Haha

Rather than say 'bout time ya hit sumfin...I'm gonna say, 'bout time ya had some luck with them little winged critters mate. Well done, and I'm glad you enjoyed your hunt. I reckon it would have been a scream watchin' ya chase them buggers round and round the juniper...sorta reminds me of the old cartoonies where the tiger chased the kid round the tree. Very Happy Very Happy
