I understand the short cut you described....... I use to be able to right click on a page/site that I was on and create a desktop short cut that way.
The phishing filter and blocker always came up under “tools” and I could make adjustments when needed. Now I don’t even see them.
Are they add on that I have to install ?

No they are built in.
The Phishing Filtering is in Tools -> Options -> Security ... the first 3 boxes.
While the pop up blocker is in Tools -> Options -> Content
FireFox uses bookmarks but if you are in a tab .. clicking control+T .... you'll see the name of the site and a little "X" to close it ... by clicking on the tab and holding down you can push the webpage to your desktop and make a desktop shortcut.

Does Hunting Nut require any plug-ins ???
Some things are not working like they use to !!! (back to top feature, smiley section)
I’ve noticed on other sites FireFox will alert me if one is needed.

Should be compatible, The Mozilla Team works very hard to keep the browser running and I am sure they made sure it would work with Vista quickly.
By now with the Windows 7 Beta's that were released I am sure they got it running as a Beta for the new Windows as well.

Cool I'll give it a try. It seems like Explorer likes to quit working to much. I guess the hamster keeps falling off the wheel.

I’m running Vista on mine !!! Seems to be ok to me !!!
I do have some things to figure out but so far I’m definitely happy with the switch.

Dimitri need some help again!!!
I often listen to road runner radio while on the internet.
When I go to open it says I need Media player 9 series.
Obviously I installed something for it to work on Internet Explorer and now need it for FireFox.
I don’t ever remember being linked to Microsoft and downloading anything this way before.
Besides player 9 isn’t for Vista.
I then went to my IE under manage add ons and found the one that runs it there.
It’s listed as something else. (some version or other of wmp )
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
