Oh hell no Vince I don't do MRE's! I survive on poggie bait not MRE's.

I'm a light weight so beer will not be on the endangered species list any time soon.

Poggie bait is just a slang for the goodies we brought to the field to avoid eating MRE's. Cookies, sardines, kippers, beenie wennie etc. As infantry I was limited to what I could carry in my ruck, but as a Tanker we carried coolers full. Even small BBQ's, nothing quite like a steak after coming off a tank range after firing.

I'm starting to think Bushy is avoiding us.

OK....we called them "jack rations". I would carry limited "jackies"...I actually didn't mind our rat packs.

One thing I did carry though was a small bottle of Worcestershire Sauce and a small bottle of Mustard Sauce. These sauces would cover the taste of just about anything.

Cheers, Vince

It seems that every armed forces in the world have really rotten field rations.
Maybe its to make their soldjer boys meaner? Confused

where I came from, they use soy sauces, and a dab of "blachang",
good enough to kill all the taste buds in your mouth and the smelling nerves in your nose! Yuck Very Happy

Tobasco sauce has saved many meals for me.

I guess bailing them and sticking them with a knife isn't a tactic you use in America, it'd be cheaper on ammo.
