My big brother will be leaving home soon to start the road trip down here, its about 12 hours drive with a 3 hour break in the middle crossing the ferry( and that is a nice trip) I better get packing as the frost is slowly thawing. still not sure how the body will cope with recoil, I may just have to shoot lefty style with my single banger!!!!
my wife and I will head up the road and meet Ron in Christchurch to take over driving the last hour and half so he gets a wee rest, it will give us a chance to catch up with the wifes dad who lives in CHCH aswell.

well the decoy would have worked great IF I had remembered the battery Embarassed

never mind we had a absolute ball of a time. my son got 2 ducks, big bro got 3 and I got 4, brother in law had fun and made bangs to put holes in the sky but went home smiling anyway.
2 possoms that were both big black shemales must have liked the look of the cocker spaniel as they cam right into camp to seranade him from up the trees 10' above his head!!! Very Happy

they got added to the bag for the weekend but probably cost us more ammo than the ducks Shocked

1 sat right up the top of a pine and we couldnt see it after Nathan had fired so after a few minutes of running around peering up the trees with torches I got sick of that approach as I was getting rather cold having just got out of the sleeping bag wearing only a smile wtf

so I got proactive and grabbed the brothers new defender and went into reconnasince by fire mode!! Very Happy

that was serious fun 12 or 15 shots later(whos counting Very Happy

) still nothing but it had shut up so we went back to bed. the next morning I looked up the tree(somewhat easier in the day light not to mention more open due to the "pruning" I had done) and low and behold the possom was peering down at me wtf

to scared to come out of the tree. the young fella made sure of it no trouble.
a great weekend had by all. the dog even got to have a swim to retrieve the birds.

I have taken 2 more parries while walking just out from the house since then and my son plucked and cleaned the first one for me while we were away.
