Sunday: woke up with a fever of 100*. Headache, runny nose, the works. I'm hunting anyways and know the spot. I'm on the birds in 5 mins. They are headed that-a-way so hop back in the truck and head thme off.
Now I"m walking to them. Getting 3's and 5's coming up but too far to shoot. I toss up a couple hail Mary's anwho and Elvira speaks! God it's been 10 months since I've hear that sound.
Things cool off and they head to loafing cover. I find them in a ravine with some really thick manzanita or whatever it is. Toss in a rock from the ledge and two bunches of at least 20 go this way and that.
I cross the ravine, get them up on the flat and it's shooting time. And I missed every damn shot. Every shot. Elvira aint happy and if I had a dog with me I'd surely have gotten the "look".
The place is thick with birds, I can't hit a one. I'm rusty, sick, my nose is running, head's gona pop...then I start to get dizzy and have to have a seat for a few minutes. Then sweat starts pouring out of me and my hands are shaking bad. Ruh-rho! I'm like the king of tough hunts: cliffs, rocks, mountain ranges- bring it on...This was gravy, it's a dream....and I could not suck it up, not one little bit. I was in DEEP trouble and had to evac, NOW.
I unload and go into survival mode and leg it back to the truck...that now has flat- RT FRT inner sidewall that got cut on a rock.
So that was that. Went back to Uncles house and spent two days in bed sweating this cold bug thing out and dreaming of those misses, all those juicy misses. God there was a TON of birds. And not one fell to my shots. I'm rusty, jinxed, sick and I suck suck suck.
Ooops- gota go...lunch is ready. Getting tired of Crow Sammiches....that's for damn sure! Lil more mayo on the next one, Bushh-boss???!!

Vince, what you recommend is close to what I learned in Czech
Republic: tea-rum and 2 asperines... then go to bed and you will sweat everything out of your system.

It sounded like a case of altitude sickness to me - you mentioned 14000 feet... That can be very dangerous!

Seems he was sick before he went up. Altidude sickness is mosty a bad head ache, sweating and nausea.
Wife got on me? Nope. One must have some Sunday-go-to-meetin' boots too ya know.

OK- just had a BIG plate of taquitos...man I love them things.
The peaks pic was on the way to Kingman. Kingman is 3000'. I live at 5600'. So maybe I got reverse altitude sickness?
Normally it don't bug me but I did get the real thing once climbing those peaks and at Mammoth Mtn. once hammering my bike on some trails. It's a b***h and will flat ruin your day. Heed the warning signs. Pulmonary edema is a pain, next comes Cerebral edema, it aint no joke and will kill you like right now.
