I picked up a Spanish 1916 Short Rifle with all matching numbers and a beautiful bore. Unfortunately, The band spring holding the front barrel band was missing. I called several of the well known military parts houses without success. I then call Springfield Sporters (they have a website) in western Pennsylvania. I used to live and work in the area and have visited their sprawling facility in the past. They had exactly what I needed to complete the 1916 Short Rifle and were less costly they other places. Just passing along the information if you need to find gun parts. All the best...

I picked up the 1916 Short Rifle a year or two ago. Just never got around to replacing the missing band spring. The parts came today (I ordered two band springs). The parts were in excellent condition and it was a simple drop in. Take care. All the best...

Nice when ya get things all lined up and put together, but with me that means I need another project.....what's it gonna be Gil, now it's all done you don't have anything to look forward to finishing. But then you said that took a few years, may be you should get more of your chores done early so's you can work more on your guns!
