Got my first "nice" shotgun ever. It's a Browning Cynergy Field in 20 ga w/ 26" tubes and the Inflex recoil pad.
Ordered it from CDNN for $1299. My local guy wanted 1799 for the same gun.
Planning on getting some pro instruction next week since I've never been very skilled as a wing shooter.
Whats up? Quail this fall & winter and next year I hope to go with my friend on his annual SD pheasant hunt.

The Browning OU is just about the best buy in an OU gun out there. Your kids can give the gun to their kids and it will function like new.
That 20 ga gun will kill a phesant stone dead. Glad for you.

Go bust some clays, then break a few more.
With a pro instructor behind watching and you correcting.
A whole new world will open up for you and a great gun to do it with.
Happy Hunting.

Well done AH. That is one sweet looking shottie. Just one question....why 20g instead of 12g? I've heard that this "calibre" has quite a following in the US but I'm not exactly sure why.
Enjoy your hunts with the shottie mate....it is a buzz.

As tikkat3 says....go and bust some clays and you will learn heaps.

Hi Vince,
I chose the 20 ga. because I wanted something with less recoil especialy as I hope to be doing more shooting than in the past.
As for a 12 ga, I do have one, it's a Mossberg 835.

Vint2, it does have 3" chambers. Some folks tell me I'll be needing 3" shells with Hevitshot # 6 for pheasant, but others say the same Hevishot in a 2 3/4 should also be fine (but not this year).

AZ htr,
You can kill phesants just fine with the 20 ga #6s and 2 3/4 shells until late in the season. Late in the season the birds start coming up far out and after a bit of cold weather are heavily feathered. I was in Mitchell, SD in late November. The first day I lost a lot of birds with the 20 ga, #6s and 2 3/4 shells, I would knock them down then they would just run off. The second day I lost a few birds that ran off with the 20 ga and 3 inch shells with #4s. They did the exploding pillow, hit the ground running and the dogs could not catch them. Then on the 3rd day I changed to the 12 with 1 1/4 oz #2 Nitro Mags and the birds hit the ground stone dead, waded up. No more of that running off BS. We were hunting with big Labs and needed Greyhounds. On a straight out run, in a combined field, a cold weather phesant will leave a big lab behind like he is running in mud.

Nice shotgun Arizona Hunter, but I'll keep my Browning BSS 12 gauge...It's paid for. Brownings are nice guns...I have two...The BSS and an A-Bolt in .30-06
