Pkslinger, I would run the trajectory with 0.0 sight height and see where the bullet crosses the laser's -negative sight height. That would show you how much up or down you would be shifting the beam from the bore if you chose a distance short of long of that. With as low as yours is, Elvis suggestion may have merit. At least I think knowing that value (range) would result in more interesting discussion.

Elvis didn't mention the bore, but the optics. Think about shooting an airrifle. You zero it at 40 yards (the optics and the laser as well). When you go hunting and you see that laser spot on your target below the cross of your optics, you know it's closer than 40 yards (and your POI will be higher than your cross)
Works fast and easy, the only problem is the sun. A lot of light and you don't see the red laser anymore. Try green during daylight.
And now I mentioned an airrifle, but it could also work with a bow or a crossbow.
And the nice thing about a laser: at short distances (in traps or with a rabbit that doesn't like to die), you don't look through the optics but put the laserdot about an inch under the spot where you want to hit your target. At these really short distances, optics are often more a curse than a help.
Did I mention that the use of lasers on fire arms is forbiten in our country? But an airrifle is not a fire arm...

Aloys, you always have an angle to get by a restriction!

I cannot remember the restriction off the top of my head to disallow negative sight height. Its been too many years since I played in that part of the program. If I get time I'll dig into it a little more.

Dallan, I got it to work, no fix needed I guess. Not sure why it didn't work the first time I tried. Operator error most likely.
The little CZ Scorpion was shooting 3-4" groups at 100 yards today using the Vortex Spitfire prism sight. I was pretty pleased! I have a 1x optic and almost 59 year old eyes. The load was a plinking load I stuck together for the handguns: 124 grain Rainier plated HP over some Universal Clays. I haven't chronographed it yet.
The sun was too bright to try the laser.
