I put 125 bucks in the truck yesterday, and I still had one tank half full !! It is definintly going to effect my hunting. I figured out today that I will have to kill one coyote per hour this year to make any profit. That's doable around here , but it will add pressure to what is supposed to be my leisure time. It costs me about 15.00 per hour to have my truck turned on. That's empty or loaded, racing or parked. Does Anyone want to buy a 94 F-250 4x4? It's a good truck. Take ya where you wanna go. I can't afford to enjoy it anymore.

I think it might have something to do with the discount given for three axle permit holders!

I drive a F250 and F350 though?

My point was that since the three axle permit holders are getting a discount you are having to make up the difference by paying .20-.30 cents more.

Well my gas burner 5.4L 4x4 gets 14-15 mpg if u drive REAL easy .. The powerstrokes ( both 4x4's ) get about 18 and 20 .. Cheeper to keep em that trade em ..

The only time that I've pulled 7000 lbs or better was when I was pulling someone elses rig out of a bad place. Never pulled them to far enough to get the mileage, but often enough, it works out as a profit. Other than that I honestly don't think it would make a huge difference to the mileage with "ol' Red". It thinks it's half tractor.

Every one I know that runs a diesel (I repair/rebuild marine/industrial diesels for a living) loose about half. My friends and I believe that there is a law that says that if you pull a trailer you get only 10 miles to a gallon. I have used the power stroke ford to pull 3 horse slants and they drop to around 9 to 10 MPG. The only diesel that seems to hold its own as far as fuel mileage is the GMC Duromax...And that was with a 14 ft camper in the bed and a two horse trailer in tow. It stayed at 18 MPG....

These specs were taken on a trip from Coos Bay, Oregon to the Bitter Roots in Montana just south of Hamilton. We had a regular ford diesel, a ford power stroke, a dodge cumins, a gas ford with a 302 cid (my brothers) and a brand new GMC duromax. The year was 2003. The GMC was able to literally run circles around us...Besides the fuel economy it gave.

I get what you are saying now Jarhead7481.....Not enough coffee at the time to understand. Mr. Green

Groovyjack: I had put the whole Banks power system on my F250 and F350, plus my wifes Excursion and think the the cash spent in getting all the stuff already paid for it self and is continuing to do so. If i don't hot dog around i get around 26mpg in each vehicle and towing is roughly 23-24mpg. On a 38 gal. tank i go between 850 and 950 miles (depending if towing) before i fill up and on the 44gal. (Excursion) and since i don't tow with that, the wife fills up at about 1100 miles.

Plus i hear Gale Banks is doing quite a bit of research with his products and making engine parts for the ability to run on Biodiesel. Flag

Hey the upfront costs of the diesel , bites hard , but if you plan on keeping it , then it's worth the cost ..
Think GM has solved the Duramax injector problems , the first ones only got to maybe 100k and had problems ..
Odd to hear the Duramax out pulling the powerstroke .
My 97 F350 4x4 crewcab has over 200k and just keeps on chooglin , mostly stays on the property now ..
The 2000 F250 crewcab 4x4 is my main workhorse nowadays ..
The 350 drops from 18 to about 12 when towing , the 250 from 20 to about 13 or so ..
The 6.0 is THE HOSS tho .. But they are mighty proud of it around here ..
Jack

Yeah, the up front cost does hit, but what gas truck goes 200k+ without a rebuild somewhere in the midst?

GM didn't solve anything that i know of with the Isuzumax injector probs....besides getting after market ones.

And while i have driven many of my hard core chevy friends diesels, no way in hell do they out tow even a Cummings let alone a Powerstroke....Sorry, Isuzus' claim to be the 'leader' in diesel technology is in a shadow 'still' in the 'ton' class trucks. Isuzu was never a power horse when it came to diesel and with adding power to make it marketable, i have seen many problems and short commings UNLESS you do 'after market' power additives. But they did get the trans right!

I'm quite fond of my 6.0 Powerstrokes' as well....and can't wait to get to that 900,000+ mile mark like i did with my 7.3! Very Happy
