Folks,
The February 2007 issue of Shooting Times has an article on these classic battle rifles. It is informative and a good read. All the best...

I have a sportorized version of one of the 1917 Enfields. It is a great, well built old rifle.--tr

I have an Eddystone as issued 1917 (MFG 02/1918). It is one solid piece of equipment. The bad part is I have never shot it, I have shot my issue 03 Springfield but never got around to the 1917.

Gil,
I was in a gun shop on Friday and saw a decent full military 1917 Eddystone. The price was just south of $500.00. I have a few of these fine rifles already. They seem to be getting harder to find. Good topic.

The first custom rifle that my father had made up in the early 60's was a 300 Wearthby mag made on a Enfield action. I have a Enfield that is being transformed into a 416 Rem mag. They are a strong action as well as a heavy action. Except for some of the first Eddystones that was prone to cracking due to the metallurgy.
