Computer Angel Either I spent to much time around my grandparents, an reincarnated as an old fart or spent way to much time in my popular culter history class. I missed #8 and 12. So that's an 18 out of 20 for the 29 year old historian. Guess that means that me taking the test ain't fair. Very Happy Very Happy

I hate it when I ace a test like this !!! Confirms that I'm an ole goat.

Quote::
8 a) Wax for your flat top (butch) haircut.
Applied to the hair on the front to make the front hair stand up. For long hair we used Brillcream to make the duck-tails stay in place. "Greasy Kid's stuff."

Quote::
9. a) With clamps , tightened by a skate key, which you wore on a shoestring around your neck.
Actually a. is most correct. b. & c are correct too and there should be a D answer too "Electrical tape...the kind made out of cloth not plastic". We made wood box scooters by taking a scate apart and nailing one half to the rear and half to the front.

Quote::
11. c) Polio. In beginning of August, swimming pools were closed, movies and other public gathering places were closed to try to prevent spread of the disease.
This was the first time sugar cubes were used to administer drugs....years later other more recreational drugs were administered on sugar cubes.

Quote::
12 . b) Taxi. Better be ready by half-past eight!
Taxi????!!!! Heck, we walked to the "picture show" ... Theater....movies?

Quote::
14. c) Hiding under your desk, and covering your head with your arms in an A-bomb drill.
We couldn't fit under our crappy desks. We went into the hall, head to the wall, in the KYAG position.

Quote::
17. b) Put in a special stamp book, they could be traded for household items at the Green Stamp store.
This is how I got my first .22 Rifle... a Marlin simi-auto. You could redeam your books for just about anything if you had enough books of stamps. Some items were worth less than a book and they would tear out the required pages at purchase time.

Quote::
19. a) The widely famous 50's group: The Inkspots.

20. a) Tony Bennett, and he sounds just as good today..
Don't get me started on the music subject. Who was the family series tv star that became a rock (popular) singer and later died in a flaming airplane crash? The airplane was not a jet.

This should confirm my ole goat status. Very Happy

Well, I'm startin' to get a few years up.....I got 13/20. Not bad for an aussie that doesn't know much about the USA during the 40's.

Cheers, Vince

You are talking about Ricky Nelson, right? If not I lost a dead singer somewhere.
