Had a visitor into my yard yesterday so I thought I'd share a couple of pics with you all.

He's a Bearded Dragon, only a young one, and measures about 18 inches long, nose to tail tip. A full grown one can be up to 24 inches or more long. They are pretty docile and will only bite if you are silly enough to pick them up or get too close to their mouth. Its a pretty nasty bite too....I know from experience. Very Happy Laughing

Cheers, Vince

They are a nice looking lizard. The "attitude look" is natural....I suppose it helps protect them.

They can get REAL crappy if'n they take a mind to. It is easy to pick though.....they flatten out their body and spread it out round on either side, then they open their mouth as if to say...I dare ya!!

As Morax says, they tame down fairly easily when young. I've even had wild ones the size of this fella go to sleep laying on my hand and arm....you lay them on their back and stroke their belly....ZZZZZZZ Laughing Laughing

wtf glockster.....you gotta be kiddin' mate !!! A man would have to have rocks in his head to get that close to a croc !!!! Shocked
It don't matter how small they are....they will try to eat ya. I've seen baby crocs, fresh out the egg fasten onto a finger.....why....cause they are aggressive buggers that want to eat everything in sight. That is how they have survived for millions of years.

No way in the world mate.

The closest I have every been to one of them there "barking lizards", "flat headed dogs", "underwater goanas", "snappin' logs" is about 1.5 metres, but he was only a small fella...about 2.5 metres long. As for getting near a biggun'.....I've been to within about 10 metres of a big croc, about 5 metres long, but let me tell ya just lookin' at him scared about 11 sorts of crap outa me. I could read his thoughts...."hm, long pig, nice, 2 maybe 3 good snaps and I'll be full.....of him !!"....no way I was hanging around.

I'm not sure how aggressive the alligators are that you guys have over in the USA, but let me tell ya....the crocodiles over here are BIG, mean, aggressive and CONSTANTLY hungry. They have developed a taste for human meat and will quite happily chow down on us. wtf Shocked

So, nope....ain't every rubbed one's belly. Now if we were allowed to hunt them it would be a different story. Very Happy Very Happy

The Gators we have will hurt you but most of them won't hunt you. We do have saltwater croc's here which are more aggressive.. Gators here have killed people before and ate a lot of pets, but if you leave them alone they'll leave you alone.. I guess something that has been around for 5 million years do what they have to to survive,,LOL

Take care Vince. If you choose to pet one use your left hand... Very Happy
