How accurate is it now? Check bedding, adjust/replace trigger... Those are easy improvements.

I would recommend a thorough cleaning, float the barrel channel, tighten the action and scope base screws. Then work up some decent reloads and head for the range to verify how it shoots. All the best...

hey yea ive lightend the trigger to as light as i think safe for hunting, probably 1.5#. have made sure there is not point the barrel is touching the stock. made sure theres a good 1cm around the barrel. got a load of 45.6gr ar2208 (varget) behind 150gr hornady btsp, remington brass and winchester wlr primers. generally get the first 2 rounds touching and the 3rd of about 1inch. better rest mite help. got that load the ocw method. 45.3 and 45.7 group the same.

One thing, ever tried to keep shooting ??

After the first 2 rounds, do the rest of the rounds group up together ?? Sometimes a barrel needs to have a couple of "foulers" shot before it will shoot constantly. This is why in alot of target shooting they allow what are called "Sighters" at the start of the match. While others do not to make you compensate for the difference from a cold bore to a fouled bore.

Just finished the David Tubb fire-lapping process a couple weeks ago on a Savage 338 WinMag... I'm very pleased. Groups 3 shots in 3/8" and a heck of a lot easier to clean. Heard it works well on cleaning out neglected barrels as well. $30 at Cabelas or Midway...

A simple way to improve accuracy could be shoot 2 or 3 different loads to see what your gun takes best . Bang Head Smash Pistol Shooting

OCW load principles tend to eliminate flyers if there is not mechanical problems causing them.

45.6 grains is likely not quite the sweet spot.............

Gidday foreign.

I use AR2208 exclusively for my .243 and 30.30 and have found that I get the best accuracy at approximately .5gn below max. In the case of the .308 the max is 47gn (a compressed load) so I would work up to a max of 46.5gn checking for pressure signs and checking accuracy.

Cheers, Vince

hey wilds i know that u are a fan of the ocw method.i thought i did it correctly. i started from 10% les that max and loaded 3 consecutivly in 1% increases then went up in .7% loading thre of each up untill i had 47.3gr. shot them with 2min between each at different targets doing 1 of each load in order. i found that the 45.3 45.6 and 45.7 all shot in the same place. then loaded one of each and they all hit within an inch. think i did it right?
