Received this in an email the other day. It sounds a lot better than I think its chances are of getting up.
CCW
We can only hope.

We have CCW like permits here, but they wont issue them to "normal" people.

Some interesting comments there too. All I can say is that ALL of the fears about "Wild West" shootouts, etc. in states allowing concealed carry have been PROVEN to be unfounded.

It is interesting to read the moron's.. uh.. anti's argument there..
It is apparent that they cannot trust them self not to go psycho, when they get a hold of guns.
That is why they have that stance.
Then again the Oz po lice is plenty around to STOP ALL crime and protect us.
Failing that, we almost always have a cricket bat or two laying about
or rocks, or kangaroo droppings..
or bull whips like Crock Dundee
Yeah, we got all that covered..

I like the one that tried to show John Lott didn't know what he was talking about..........then (as usual) comes along the the guy that discredits that guys facts.
Amazes me to no end that they always try adding in suicide and self defense shootings with violent crime stats !!!
I once again propose we ban all cars and trucks so we will no longer have families suffering untimely deaths due to drunk drivers. (I think we should start with Toyota)
While we're at it..........we can get rid of pencils and my neighbors dog !!!

The only reason a government has for not allowing CCW is fear of their citizens using them to protect their rights. Tyrants in government should fear the people. It's that fear that keeps them from abusing the citizens. Guns in the hands of the people is natural to a free society.

Vince!! I got on that website and punched the I Agree button a billion times but the number didn't go up.....ba$tard$...anyway I wonder how many agreeable there actually are? After reading some of the comments it was getting scary to read any more. Most of the stuff the anti's were talking about, was not related to concealed carry crimes, they were just sort of guns-in-general related. Huge difference there, you need the NRA over there to kick some anti's roo-butts.

It was the Liberal Government that introduced the current gun laws
they are now in opposition
I don't think the current laws will change to accomodate CCW
we have had very restrictive laws on handgun ownership for a very long time.
Our laws were based on controling convicts, nothing has changed.
And under British Law, there is a saying
"British Law is the best that money can buy"
If I am richer than you ,then I win.
A recent case of a high profile person, who wasn't a registered gun owner who was CCW, was let off.

The thing that miffed me is the fact that ,
most gun crimes are committed by the persons who do not have license,
but is is us the legal owners that were prosecuted!!
Heck, all we have to to is to LOOK mean at some dummy and they could go to the cop, get AVO and that's it, you loose your gun.
On the other hand, the crims waving guns about and cops dont even know they got them.. A55h0les!!
