I don't know if i or this was posted before (did a search and couldn't fint it) but my friend just e-mailed to me again and i thought i'd share it with you guys.
CONSIDER THIS... This is just part of the known tally ...
In 1929 the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, approximately 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915-1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally ill, and others, who were unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million "educated" people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
That places total victims who lost their lives because of gun control at approximately 56 million in the last century. Since we should learn from the mistakes of history, the next time someone talks in favor of gun control, find out which group of citizens they wish to have exterminated.

That was running around before Computers and the internet. You could find it in gun magazines and especially The American Rifleman. I would amagin that it is based on some truth as dictatorships depend on total control and fear of it subjects. I believe that I read this about 15 or more years ago...10ring...How about some new news subjects???

During hours at the gunstore today, two gentlemen from Britain came into the shop. As you may recall, the British government banned handguns from private ownership several years ago. They delighted at merely seeing handguns, used and new. Between the two of them they turned in 18 rather choice handguns and were given compensation based, roughly, on fair market value.
The real pain was the loss of the handguns and the enjoyment they received from owning and shooting with them. For that there is no compensation. The reality is that this ban has not affected the crime rate by any amount of reduction in crime per capita. These gentlemen contend (I have no stats to evaluate their claim) that crime has gone up post ban.
My Australian friend notes that crime has gone up notably in that country after their handgun ban, too. She loves visiting the USofA several times a year and I enjoy her enthusiasm for handguns and hunting. She prefers the FA 454 Casull with mild loads and the Kimber TAC Pro and shoots them accurately.
Fortunately our country views firearms ownership as a right owing to the 2nd Ammendment. Regretably we have allowed many inroads on those rights and, under Bush, have managed to recover a few. It is my opinion that anyone that espouses legislative regulations of firearms is guilty of treason and deserve nothing less than capital punishment. We have ample examples, as provided by 10ring's reminder, that only the shedding of blood can ever regain lost rights.
May we all be aware.

As my hat goes off to you Handloader......I as well believe it to be fair warning.
Yet "IF" that day ever comes i hope to be tried by a jury of my peers. But if it comes down to it......I would gladly be carried by six knowing i faught for Human Rights!
